IF DIECKMAN IZZZZ PLAYING ANYBODY CAN PLAY....IT IS FOR CHARITY....RIGHT :groucho:
For charity and bragging rights.
Israel who is now going by his first name Justin, is hoping to give you a lesson in 9-ball after the beating you gave him in 3 cushion at last years Expo. :)

Most of the guys I go up with show up on wednesday afternoon /night.They have a wednesday warmup tournament and the open starts on thursday morning.I would love to shoot in this charity event but never got around to the whole ICA membership as of yet.

I usually play the warm up also. Win three matches and get $400 ain't bad. We will be running a $195 lifetime ICA membership special again this year if you want to bring a cue and join at the Expo. At this point the only spots left to play will be for those recognized by the Blue Book, ACA or ICA membership requirements. We won't have time to figure out who else is really qualified, except for maybe former members of the associations.
Our truck is loaded and I am waiting on my son to show up so we can start the 800 plus mile drive to the Expo. I probably won't be answering anymore questions on here this week.

Anyone know who was in the finals of this tournament and who won? Thanks

WELL ONE THING I KNOW WAS I WUZ NOT.....but i did win my first match at least but number two was even more ugly.....both opponents were true gentlemen.

MISSED SEEING THE FINAL GAME.....McWORTER [sp?] vs HIGHTOWER but I heard it was hill hill and Chris got lucky......great show however the venue leaves a lot to be desired.......especially carpet on the concrete for all us old folks legs.

WILL BE BACK NEXT YEAR and we are already planning for a bigger and better cuebuilders tournament, more publicity before and during, etc etc BE THERE OR BE SQUARE

You spelled his name correctly. Jerry was the firs person to ever steal money from me on a pool table...lol.

He said "if you want to get better, you have to play for money"... Ten minutes later, I was 20 dollars lighter...

PRESS RELEASE

Cuemakers International 9-Ball Championship 2012

Some of the finest cuemakers from all over the USA and Canada met in Philadelphia at the Super Billiards Expo for the 2012 Cuemakers International 9-Ball Championship. The event was the first annual Cuemakers 9-Ball Championship and was held as a charity benefit for the Galilean Childrens Home in Liberty, Kentucky. The Galilean Childrens Home has helped thousands of special needs children for a few decades now. All entry fees and donations went directly to help the Childrens Home. Some cuemakers paid much more than the $30 donation/entry fee and others who were unable to play came by and donated their entry fee just to help the Children. When all was said and done the cuemakers tournament raised over a $1000 for the Childrens Home.
The players field was filled with Cuemakers from both the American Cuemakers Association and the International Cuemakers Association as well as some independent cuemakers. The tournament was played in a true single elimination format. When it was all over Chris Hightower of Hightower Custom Cues took home the title of International 9-Ball Champion of Cuemakers 2012. His route to the title was not an easy one with wins over Canadian cuemakers Charlie McKay and Roy Mason. Then he squeaked by well known California cuemaker Jerry McWorter and went on to win the finals against Michigan cuemaker John LaLonde.
Next years event will be held at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center during the Super Billiards Expo March 28th - 30th 2013. A special word appreciation needs to be given to Allen Hopkins Productions for donating the space to hold the event, Cue Man Billiard Products for donating the table rental fees, the International Cuemakers Association for donating the Award Plaques and most of all to the cuemakers for their generous donations and participation. Our cuemaking industry indeed has some generous quality individuals representing it.
If interested in sponsoring, donating to, or playing in the 2013 event contact Cue Man Billiard Products at cueman@cuesmith.com for more information.

Congrats Chris, I didn't know you were as skilled on the table as off. Thanks for putting on this fun event to raise money for such a good cause. You're a good man, and that goes a long way, in life as well as after.

It was the Semis and it was not hill hill, but yes I got lucky! Jerry is a great player and I picked him as the favorite to win the event. So anytime you beat that good of a player you have to have a little luck. Who really surprised me was Roy Mason. For a 70 year old he has a lot of game.
But who surprised everyone the most was Dieckman. Not because of his caroms on the 9-ball, which were pretty impressive, but the colored beard and hair was the talk of the whole expo. You are one of a kind indeed! :)

Pics please.

I had a great time at the whole expo. I was down to also play in the TAP event but was really looking forward to the cuemakers touirnament. I was matched up against Steve Dunkel in the first round and squeeked out a win against him. The next round was against Chris and he was obviously the better player. I got a couple games from him but couldn't finish when I needed to.

I enjoyed meeting some of the other cuemakers and look forward to next years event.

You can go ahead and make the donation now and we won't have to remember then. We are taking sign ups now.

CHRIS: the cuemakers tourney was a beautiful thing and you have inspired me to actually practice in preperation for next years event so I can kicka your .............BUT WE GOT TO START PLANNING NOW TO MAKE IT BIGGER AND BETTER.

From what I have read on this thread you struck a chord that vibrated true in many hearts. I have a few ideas [duh] which i would like to share with you but that is a phone conversation.
