Magic Rack - too perfect or WTF?

My Magic Rack arrived today so I thought I would give it a try out.

In 9 ball racks the 9 ball must have stayed in the rack 95% of the time, unless something came off the rail and contacted it. It hardly budged as a matter of fact.

I tried cut breaks, rail breaks, different spins, to no avail. I have relatively new cloth - no dimples to speak of.

The instructions said to peel something off - but I found nothing to peel off.

I am really surprised that, as far as I know, I am the only one to have noticed this.
 
I can't see your problem?

The 9 is supposed to stay on it's spot unless it gets kicked by the balls coming off the rail.
 
You're the only person to notice what - that the 9 ball hardly moves or that the instructions say peel off the backing but there isn't any?

Either way, you're not. The 9 ball typically doesn't move unless kicked. As for the backing, do you have the new black colored model? If so I believe they don't have any backing but apparently some of these went out with the old instructions. The older clear models did have a backing that you were supposed to peel off, and they were a PITA.
 
The magic rack is horrible!I played in a tournament match and a ball landed on the rack 3 times in our match and we had to call a ref to pick the ball up and reset it.Just a bad product imho

There was backing on mine and I have the new black color. It is actually pretty hard to see and remove.

Really? I stand corrected, I guess. I'll have to go back and search for where I got this info. Maybe they started shipping the black model with the backing on and have since taken it off prior to shipment. In any event, at least you agree with me that it is a real pain. :thumbup:
 
Don't try to peel the nonexistent coating off. Being the stubborn knucklehead I am I tried and tried to get it off. By the time I tore it I realized there wasn't a film. Luckily the guys at Magic Rack sent me 4 replacements.

Sometimes having a tireless drive can be destructive
 
Hey Dogs...I also have a black magic rack that says to peel off coating.
I didnt seem to have a coating...but one side is shiny and one side is dull...do you have any info on that...which side goes down..which side goes up?

Yeah I bought two racks from Pooldawg and both came with the remove backing label and i ended up destroying one in my attempt to remove.

They should either preremove the backing or put a tab on it...

I've been using shiny side up. This is the side that the writing is correct.
 
I love the magic rack now

Dry break? Forget about it. That's a thing of the past now. Technique? Not even needed, just line up and whack away. Practice the break? Who needs it. Yippee!!!

Hey guys I dont get this???? All this complaining about the M-Rack? I have played and gambled with guys that have argued about the rack for years, even come to blows about it.

Now theres a rack that puts that to rest and people think its to much of a pain to move a ball that lands on the rack or that is racks to good??

I dont get it, if the guy yuor playing is making balls on the break, you can too or his break is just better than your and you should go work on it, but dont put it on the rack.

I beg to differ... I have spent hours working on my break utilizing the magic rack. Watching your video the cue ball ended up all over the table and to be even more critical you neglect to show how often you ended up with a shot on the one ball...

Metmot has a point. A lot of players have put a lot of work into their break ( Shane?...lol ). The MR is an equilizer, find the " spot " on the table where the wing ball goes and it goes every time ( my girlfriend made 8 wing balls in a row on my GC 3 ). Its fine for tourneys: but I'm not bettin my cash using the MR........unless my oppoient breaks better than i do...lol.

why does the MR have one side shiny and one side dull? And it does seem thicker than the clear ones...baked on film? I'm ??????....wheres my wooden rack!
RS, you have a point...but, if you KNOW you're going to make the wing ball every time, you can squat the rock pretty easily ( or watch how they spread and put whitey where the one ball goes ). The one nowadays is heading up table since the balls and the cloth are faster than in the 60's-70's. We used to squat the rock at mid table and get a shot....cue needs to be more toward the head spot now ( some guy named Shane something figured that out ).
MR...good for tourneys ( will save a lot of time )....not so good for bettin it up....Just the observations of an out-of-stroke has been...lol

Should have emailed them about it. The new black ones don't have a film, but have the old instructions saying it does have a film.

That was the first day and I was just whacking them. It doesn't take much of a stretch to park the cue ball from there. Had that down by day two. The magic rack is a joke but fun to goof around with.

I also didn't show how many times multiple balls went in besides the wing ball. Going back and looking I had an open shot at the one about half the time. And that was without trying, just from moving balls off the table.
