Giving back to pool

I've loved the game all my life. If I were fortunate enough to win the lotto tonight, I would set up a trust large enough to have a huge $$ added tournament every year forever just off the interest. Would have enough divisions that everyone could play and enjoy a great payday.

How would you give back to the pool community?

I would like to see clean, brightly lit, family game rooms become financially viable again. I guess I would try to buy a national advertising campaign that would restore pool as a family game for a lifetime. A kid should be able to do more than fish with his dad.

That would be my dream...somewhat.
I would like a tour...at least 6 open tournaments a year..$100,000 added.

But there would be rules modifications....

10-ball - Texas Express....no call shots
1-pocket and straight pool....shoot again option after any foul
Snooker...American snooker rules
3-cushion...just the way it's played now

And Berman, Griffin, Sullivan, and TAR would get support.

..you know how money comes to money?
..it would probably attract sponsors and start creating billiard millionaires

First thing I'd do is have all the tables at our rec center replaced. Lot of the guys there say the same thing.

I love what you are saying, and I too would invest my money in making pool a giant contender in the professional world again too... I would absolutely love to get with you in doing this, especially if you or I win.

Half a billion cash out... Im telling you right now, that you wouldn't miss a penny of it, you'd be so waste deep in money.. lol

Help anyone having trouble shooting--that is giving of my/your time to help those early in their pool career is going to be FAR more valuable to the long term success of pool than creating a tournement (or adding $$$ to a tournement.)

Heck, putting a pool table in as many recreation halls as possible would help the game long term more than adding $$$ to tournements--for the same amount of money input.

We would have a blast. Take in others ideas as well and help improve the game in many ways, while having fun at the same time.

I would buy every pool related item on AZ for sale section and then give it all away to who ever wanted it.

Then with those profits I would open (1) pool hall in every zipcode of the USA.

Unfortunately, that is how most pool player do accounting. :yikes:

Buy every AZ pool item (-$) give it all away (+- 0) = profits? (-$)

None the less, I like the idea of a pool hall in every zip code. ;)
Personally, I would open bars dedicated to pool. A lot easier to make a profit.

I'd leave it. :-)

How would I give back? If the lottery win was big enough I'd simply buy pool.

I would buy every league and make them all into one league with many divisions. Then I would set it up so that a tiny percentage of each member's weekly dues fund a professional tour management company. With those funds I would set up a professional tour and contract all the players with WWE-style contracts that govern everything from the shoelaces to the tips.

I would form my own production company and produce ALL the content. I would sell this content to the networks.

With a professional tour established that is on solid financial footing I'd set out to attract outside industry advertisers to fund the tournaments in a bigger way.

To put it simply I would want to own every aspect of pool and do it my way. I would not want to simply donate money to the "game" so that people could play at my expense. I don't love it that much.

From kid's programs to the professional level I'd reorganize the game in the USA and make it so that there is a clear path to the professional ranks with a huge and broad amateur base to draw from.

I'd hire the best minds in pool and pay them decent salaries with stock options. Together we would supplant the BCA and make pool in America what it always should have been.

That's what I would do "for" pool if I had the money.

After I took a year off and traveled the world to think about it of course.
