Rack and "kitchen" lines?

Here are a few pics of the marker we used.

Close up of rack area, I am getting a new rack so I haven't done the rack line yet.

I really like the way they came out. You can see them but they don't stand out so much as to draw your attention while playing.

And a picture to show off the table, Jack did a GREAT job!!!

I was in a cue maker's pool room the other day and his tables have a line across the table at the 2nd spot, (my son tells me this denotes the kitchen?, never heard that term), and a line from the rack to the center diamond at the foot for aligning the rack. I am terrifyingly ignorant about things like this, is it common to have these lines?
By chance was you here at Shooters in Olathe. I do this for several reasons. Most mentioned above. I also put a little mark where the bottom of the rack goes on each table. So the balls are racked center on the spot.

I use a string with baby powder to mark my lines. Then I go over them with a Fine point sharpie with a straight edge to draw the lines on the table! This gives it a very clean look.

I want to make sure I understand this. You mark the lines with chalk then you draw the line with a sharpie through the chalk line and the line comes out clean? Thanks.

Woody, you must have moved the pictures in your photobucket storage, as they are gone :( Could be nice to see them as an example of a great looking marking work.

I'm used to finding the spot by crossing the lines, namely two threads from corner pockets to side pockets. However, recently I was asked by a friend which is correct line: one that goes to the center of the side pocket OR one that goes across the real center of the side pocket? These lines are slightly different. I was asked by phone and had no chance to check which of two resulting spots are located between the diamonds. So I still don't know the answer (and still have no time to check that :embarrassed2:)

Thanks, I will have to go try to find a white one. Have you ever tried the silver sharpie? That seems like it might work pretty well on the blue cloth.

Be very careful with the silver Sharpies. I never used them on fabric but I use them a lot and much ink comes out of them compared to other colored Sharpies
