Darren Appleton vs. Mika Immonen PPV THIS FRIDAY @ Sandcastle in Edison, NJ!!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What's on the line for this match? Money match? Exhibition? Or??

OLDZILLA why won't you answer the question !!!!!!!!.

Are they playing for fun?

What does the winner get?
What does the loser get?

Is it winner take all?
I would pay for PPV for winner take all, not a funsie(SP) match.

I can see Daz an Mikka matches on youtube for free, or Efren, Willie, etc..
What is the incentive?

Wow really??? guess when/if you are all out of pride it would then be about funsies(sp).....

sure go watch your youtube matches and next year when the superbowl is on see if you can find this year's game on youtube and watch that instead.......

We saw 2 of the top 5 player's in the world battle it out to a hill/hill finish with Daz completing a miraculous comeback.... You won't see that one on youtube any time soon.....

If you think for 1 second they need added incentive besides their pride being on the line in a full arena with the cameras on there is absolutely nothing I could ever say that would register with you.....

I had to work BARNYARD !

Yeah I guess it was funsies but how would I know being at work and 300miles away.
Have a nice day !

Still no answer, was it winner take all? Did they chop?

No disrespect to Daz, for not buying the PPV, he is a great player.
I have seen Daz and Mika play before, but not each other.

Tony and I are working on bringing Efren and Francisco to play at California Billiards, for the West Coast Challenge 2012 April 25 to 29.
One Pocket $4,000 added and 10 ball $10,000 added.
It is going to be live streamed.

SVB, is scheduled to be there.

Been to the Swanee this year, it was a great tournament.
Francisco it was great to see you at the Swanee, no you can'thave my Ebony and Ivory cue now, later yes.

Been to the Derby many times seen many great comebacks over the years.
Been to Johnson City also, saw many great players Boston Shorty, Luther, Richie, Ronnie, etc.

All we wanted to know is what was the stakes?
I don't know what the secret was?

This was not the first matched, I have missed in my life.
There will be others that I will miss.

In fact, I will probably miss the West Coast Challenge, made reservations for Yosemite last year.
I don't think the wife will let me off the hook.
Without her okay, I couldn't be able to try and bring Efren and Francisco to Mountain View.

Oh well, Ill get to see the guy's some other time.

well what a great match it turned out to be well worth the dollars i began to like the rules esp the push out it stops racking cheats and who wants to watch a player running rack after rack to boring if they put the call shot in as well will be perfect ..we will always get fans not liking this or that choose what they try to do i say a big thumbs up to acc-stats and the team for bringing this to us .i cant wait for the next ...by the way well done to darren after a poor start to get back in and show passion and grit to come back and win it i for one thought it was all over at 7-1 down and then 12-5 down loved every minute of it thx acc-stats.great joc take not notice of the wainers ..lol
p.s what had mika done to say he should have been fined ?/

And thank goodness it does. I personally am tired of seeing a better breaker win matches over a [better] player who is clearly the better shot maker, better position player, better safety player, better kicker, and better strategist. I am not opposed to the break giving a small advantage, but unfortunately that isn't the way it is. The advantage is huge, and all too often nothing else even ends up mattering at all.

These rules:

-Ensure every player gets a turn at the table in each rack. It means that every match is just that, a match, with no chance that one guy just ends up effectively playing the ghost. I want to see two guys compete against each other, not one guy competing only against the table.

-Cuts down or eliminates all the problems associated with racking since the break just isn't that important any more. Some of the issues it helps with are rack mechanics, arguments, cheating, excessive time taken to rack, rack checking, sharking, neutral rackers being needed, etc, etc.

-Makes the matches closer. Matches that are blow outs tend to be boring. This format should make for more close and hill hill matches.

-Brings more thinking and strategy back into the game. Less mindless outs, more strategy.

-Eliminates those boring matches where the wing ball seems to be wired. The most boring matches in the world are the ones where a ball is going on every break, particularly when they are getting perfect shape on the one ball every time as well.

-Ensures the best player wins, not the best racker/breaker.
spot on poolplaya...

Why dont we just use the Disco Bucket Break rules? In order to stop someone who actually practices and learns how to break well you dont let anyone actually break. Before each game you take all the balls, put em in a bucket...shake them around....and dump them on the table. Start from there.

That way no one will ever have an advantage on the break, no one will ever run any packages and pool will do the impossible by getting even more boring to watch.

Yes!
The Disco Bucket may be the only set of rules that would enable any American to come close to Shane, who has damn near mastered the break. Any other elements of the game we should eliminate? How bout no breaks, banks, or kicks.

"But-but-but The Renfro, you don't understand -- it's all about Da Cash! Da Cash, dammit, Da Cash! Everything in this game, everything about matching up, everything about even picking up a cue in the first place, is about Da Cash! If you don't have Da Cash on the line, why even play in the first place? What's Da Point? You may as well play jacks, or pick-up sticks, or cribbage."

All funnin' aside (but the sarcastic point is meant and aimed squarely between the eyes of those that need to hear it -- you know who you are), I hear you. When I match up with somebody, they just about get the same stout game from me as they would if a small wager was on it. Money does make me focus a bit more, I'll say that, but it also causes me to view my opponent in an entirely different light. A none-too-flattering light, to be sure. That's why I don't normally like to gamble with friends. People I don't know, first walking into the pool room and looking for action? Sure. But I don't expect to become friends with those people either, unless something very unique and rare happens -- e.g. the person turns out to be a "brother from another mother" that just likes to gamble a bit, or something like that.

I wouldn't lose any respect for either Mika and Darren if they played such a fantastic match for just reputation, or pride. In fact, all the more power to them! That says a lot about their competitive spirit -- i.e. that pool of this caliber is really a sport -- rather than the gambler's commodity view about Da Cash.
