Do all McDermott G-core shafts.......

make one of the most annoying click sounds I've ever heard when you hit a ball? I must have test drove 20 G-core shaft McDermotts at my local pool hall and every single one sounded like the ferrule was loose or something... CLICK.. CLICK.. CLICK.. drove me nuts! These were NEW cues in the case, and they all done it!
 
Nope, never had a noise out of the G core shafts, and I have been through a ton of them. Maybe the weight bolt in the cue is not tight. The cues are like tuning forks, a noise at one end will sound like it is coming from the other end.

What's the chances of the weight bolt being loose in 20 different brand new cues?
 
I have only

owned one. Never heard a click out of it in the three years of league & tournament play.
 
Since they are McDermott cues, I assume they are 3/8 x 10 joints. Try the McD shafts on non-McD butts & vice versa. That should get closer to the cause.

Also, the hollow McD bumpers make a funny noise when hit on the floor - a noise that the solid McD bumpers don't make. That might be what you are hearing.
 
Maybe it is the cueball or the balls you are using?:thumbup:

When I first tried a G-core shaft, it seemed to pick up dirt quick.

Had to clean the shaft too often.
 
I do not hear any clicks in either of my G-Core shafts. I love them both, they play exactly the same. both 13mm.

I did try one at 12.75mm that had a sound I did not like

New as in no chalk on the tip and tip was probably not rough? I'm thinking that it's the tip hitting the ball and not the shaft.
 
Mine makes a noise too . . .

Of the balls falling in the pockets . . . great low deflection shaft for a $110 or so . . . I can deal with that - just turned the hearing aid down a tad.

Tips were shaped, rough and had been test drove before. New as in, still in the display case and never owned.

question is the G core really a low deflection shaft. When i picked mine up I thought it deflected the same as my regular Mcdermot shaft that came with the cue. I had no getting used to period, The biggest difference was the stability and consistency of the hit.
