Chuck-
I love snakewood.
What was the weight on that one piece butt? What did you use for the core?
I presume you used a core.
I am very impressed by your ability to keep this stuff intact.
I have accumulated quite a pile of snakewood and none of the big pieces are dry enough to use yet.
One nice big expensive cue-sized piece cracked just sitting there in the rack. It was waxed and wrapped tightly with clear plastic wrap. It was a couple years old already and one day it just cracked. I think I actually heard it split but it was a few days before I found it.
Bizarre.

PS- Those wood joint screws totally peg the cool-meter!

I have a piece of snake wood 1 1/2" X 1 1/2" X 30" I purchased back in 1995.
It's been wrapped and sealed all the time.
I take it out and inspect it once a year.
Don't know if I will ever use it.
No cracks or checks that I can see anywhere.
I will take $300.00 plus pay pal fees and shipping.
I can send pics via e mail as I don't know how to put them on AZ.
Contact through e mail would be better as I don't check PM's that often.

very heavy

when i had the piece doweled to 1.29 by 29 1/4 inches it weighed 27 plus oz. i cored i on both ends as far as i could drill with flat laminated maple 3/4 inch on the butt and .62 on the joint end. i think if i make a 57 inch cue and trim the butt a bit small i can get it to around 15 1/2- 3/4 oz.
i thought this was an information section not a place for sales and quoting prices, but since it has been brought up, i payed $90.00 for this piece 45 inches by 1 1/2 by 1 1.2. its dead dry. the guy has more and i am buying all i can get at this time.
carguy, i bought a log that was suppose to be 25 years old, and two years after i made that cue it developed a hair line crack. i am not waiting 25 years as some will crack and some won't. i buy it and start cutting, if it cracks i toss it in the junk pile, and start with the next piece.
