I took these with my phone, so I'll get some new (better) pictures on my camera.

Let me know honest opinions. I know I need to show the whole cue, but I can't get the lighting right. I've been told it's "gawgy"...

I'm getting there. I just wanted to show the good parts first. I have to wait a little bit to get the whole cue.

I'm happy you finally got your cue, I know how hard the wait can be. I think its gorgeous! How do you like the feel, the balance, the hit, the look?

I've never hit with a cue like it. I absolutely love it. I get so much more action on the cue ball. The feedback is amazing. Take that with a grain of salt though, because I've only hit with a handful of custom cues. That being said, it feels better than any of them. It's probably going to take some time for me to adjust to it since I've played with a Meucci for the last five years. The cue ball goes right where I aim... guess that's why I missed a lot of shots tonight (Meucci players probably know what i'm talking about)

I'm new to custom cues and, since I ordered the cue, I've been looking at all of the amazing cues on this forum. I can see the draw of classically deigned cues, like some of yours skierlawer. But the way that my cue is designed (hard for me to think of it as mine still) is awesome. Each individual part of the cue is so figured and stunning that I feel like it's hard for me to take the whole thing in. That's probably why I posted the closeups first.

Being able to combine highly figured woods is as much an art as the construction is. Luckily for me, I got both. It is a piece of art in the choice of woods (I picked two), the way they are put together, the veneer colors, the inlays...the construction looks flawless, and it plays amazing. I am so grateful that I own it. Dave is an amazing cuemaker.

I'm just worried I'm going to damage it.

I likey a lot!

Wow! I am biased to wrapless cues so I have to say congratulations on owning this beauty. I'm not sure who the actual maker is, but kudos to him as well for an amazingly cue made. Everything about your cue speaks my language, enjoy it as I'm sure you will and say nighty night to your Meucci cause I'm sure it'll be put to sleep for a very long time.

Thanks for sharing your new found love with us. ;)

Best,
Mo

What you have here is a piece of art. There is a lot going on with this cue. I usually dont like flashy cues......more of a plain jane guy, but this cue is one of the most beautiful cues that I have ever seen in my life. There isn't one thing on it that I don't like.

The maker definately got my attention with this build. Congrats on your purchase my friend. Shoot 'em straight.

Sweet looking cue there!! From one of the most dependable, honest cuemakers around!! Dave is a man of his word!!!!

As I was reading through the thread, I was really hoping you weren't going to disclose who the maker was right off the bat...I wanted to see if comments would be made with regards to the aesthetics of the cue without aonyone's bias with regards to the cuemaker...

Now...here's what I think I would have written before I saw it was a Kikel:

Whoever made this cue chose some phenomenally figured woods for your cue. I love the inlay pattern/design. The segmented handle was a spectacular choice as it really makes the wrapless "pop"! Absolutely beautiful!

Here's what I'm writing after knowing it's a Kikel:

I recently picked up a Kikel myself and couldn't be more pleased with the cue! He definitely chose some phenomenally figured woods for your cue. I love the inlay pattern/design. The segmented handle was a spectacular choice as it really makes the wrapless "pop"! Absolutely beautiful!

Jason ;)

p.s. Truly a spectacular looking cue...if you ever decide to go back to playing your Meucci rather than this, I have an idea it would last MINUTES after you post it for sale (which I really hope you NEVER do for your sake...for MY sake, I kinda hope you DO! :p )

Awesome cue! That you like the way it plays so much makes it a real treasure. Use it in good health for many years. I used my Joss as my main player for 22 years and it became part of my arm. You can use this cue for a long time and you'll appreciate it more and more over the years. If you are like me, you'll stare at the grain of the wood, and the colors in the inlays. There is a lot to appreciate about that cue.

beautiful cue
what are the woods and cue maker??

Thanks. The cue is:

English Boke Birch forearm
Four camatillo points with abalone tiffany diamond inlays outlined with ivory
Four veneers - I think they are black, blue, green, natural
A and B rings are white phenolic
The handle is Thuya Burl with Boke rings outlined with black and white phenolic
The butt is Camatillo with eight alternating sized abalone and ivory inlays
It has an Ivory hoppe ring with a black phenolic cap

Cue weighs 19.0 oz.
Two shafts both 13.0mm ivory ferrules with MM tips on both

I kind of wanted to do that initially, but then I got worried that someone would actually say something bad about it. Dave worked hard on the cue and doesn't deserve anything bad said about it. The guy that said it was gaudy later changed his mind after we played for a while. Initially, it is a stunning cue. I think it literally stuns your optics because of the hypnotic woods and the deep colors. After you look at it for a while, your brain makes the subtle connections that Dave saw in each wood. There is a shade in the light grain of the camatillo that matches the thuya. The figure in the boke that he choose for the rings ties the handle in with the forearm. I am really liking it more and more.

I don't think I will sell this one. I'm just going to keep adding funds to the custom cue account until I can afford another. This was my first custom cue that I helped design and I pray I will never part from it.
