Hi all,

I'd like someone to install a smooth black leather wrap to this upcoming purchase of mine. It's a Joss SP and I'll be using a 314/2 shaft.

I've spoken to Joss directly, and was told that this could not be done.

I like the simple unadorned lines of a SP, but I'm finding one with a smooth black leather wrap very hard to find.

If you can provide this service for me, please let me know.

Thanks...

Asking Joss why it cannot be done would have been a good question. I don't think it would be wise to cut a wrap channel into the inlaid points. I don't remember if there's a finger splice in that area, too. Regardless, It would be better to make the wrap channel lower. Of course, that may not be the look you're going for.

Of course it can be done. The problem is it will also require a re-finish.
The cost for the job would exceed the value of the cue. But if that
doesn't bother you, have at it.

Another option, for aprox the same $s you could have a sneaky made with a wrap.

For what the cue plus modifications would cost I am confident somebody would build you a cue.

Not that I can really argue with buying a JOSS. Hard to go wrong with one I think. But what you are looking for does not seem so hard to find I think.

The JOSS is not a true sneaky anyway, at least not the way I think of one.

I really appreciate all your advice, fellas. Thanks for helping out the new guy. My game certainly doesn't justify being hidden by a sneaky since even in my finest hours, I'm only an advanced hack. I guess I'm just old school and am so used to my ol' Hoppe. I simply can't warm up to all the glitz that even Joss has to add to most of their other cues.

I was, however, able to find these two; a Mezz and a Schon. I'm now trying go change my mind set about an LD shaft. I was just curious about the 314/2 and from what I read, they are probably most helpful for someone with my limited skill set, whereas the seasoned player can more easily compensate for squirt. Guess right now I'm suffering from analysis paralysis.

I would

contact Bob Frey. He recently had 10 Sneaky Petes for sale in the wanted/for sale section, and they all looked terrific. He was sellling them for $400 a piece. I am sure he could make you one to your specs with a leather wrap for about $500.
