"MEMORIAL DAY" Please say a prayer for the fallen and those still serving!!!

Memorial day is a very special day for me. This is the one day a year that I spend thinking about friends I have lost and for those who have taken their place protecting the values, and life that I Cherish. During my Military Career of Twenty Three years in the US Army my life changed in so many ways that I could not possible list them all here. However, the most important thing I learned was how to judge others by their actions and not by their ethnic back ground, the way they look or the color of skin.

Like I said above today is a day of reflection, so think and say a prayer for those who are Serving our Country, those who have Served our Country, and Especially for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our way of life, and the Freedoms we all enjoy. These gifts were paid for with Blood, Sweat, and Tear's and this is a day while reflecting that I never fail to shed a Tear for friends and comrades who made an impression on me that will last as long as I live and for those who never came home and got to enjoy what they fought for!!!!!!:crying::o:yeah:

Very good thread, Manwon,
I appreciate all of the people that have served their country for whatever reason. I did a stay in the Army. And I know how it goes first hand. But a lot of people do not have a clue. And it does not matter them! I thank you for this thread, Manwon. Happy Memorial day to you WarLock and the rest of the world. God bless everyone.
Many Regards,
Lock N Load.

Father,

I know I've been talking trash about all the dumbasses walking around screwing up my life and other intelligent people's lives, and they deserve it. Because when I was a dumbass I'm glad people made me aware of it...now I'm less of an idiot.

As much as I complain about stuff I just want you to know that I'm glad to live here. I'm thankful for all the men and women who have dedicated their lives to build my freedom to talk trash about other people. After watching "Hungar Games" it has been on my mind everyday that I'm richly blessed to have not been born during Hitler's reign. That was really horrible. Or even an African tribal girl. I hear, in some villages rape is inevitable. I can't even imagine. You know what? That's really messed up. I hope you have a really good reason for al that crap. I have faith in you.

So I sit here with my window open looking out into the cull de sac of such a nice neighborhood...and all I can do is thank all of our heros for putting their life on the line and all their family members that have to endure long periods of suffering while they are gone. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. GOD BLESS!

Wow these are some great posts, thanks very much for taking the time to share your feeling and thoughts.

awesome thread!!!!!! My uncle served in vietnam in late 60s was in horrible action and 1 of the lucky few to come back. By way he played a lot of pool in vegas while stationed there with many great stories of hustlers like detroit whitey! Any ways always wished he marched in are local parade, how ever memories are tough when govt sends you away to kill and when you come back to the usa you know no different. Many veterans feel this way and they should not be judged in any wrong way because they refuse to celebrate today. God bless all who served and each everyone of you have my respect!!

Yeah. Its funny how they take bullets for pennies and athletes get to sell tennis shoes and sound like jocks for 30 second on TV.

Brilliant post, C.
I'm feeling a bit selfish....my nephew is back from two tours, and I'm glad.

Although the Canadian army has invested a lot of time and training in him
and they're keeping him for a while...he's like Special Forces material.
Lotta farmers, ministers, and school teachers in my background, but, like
Manwon's family, we've been answering the call to arms since the 1500's.

God bless those who stand up for us.

Craig, thank you for devoting your life's career to the service of our country.

Today, my daughter and I got to watch the parade with friends and family, have a great barbeque, and enjoy the great sunshine, all because of the sacrifices made by our veterans past and present, deceased and those still with us. Thank you to all of our veterans, I tip my cap to you.

Craig

Thanks PT,

I've had it rough recently but have made it through and its built a foundation of thankfulness and realization for everything worthwhile in life that sometimes I forget. I really don't know much about the world or where its going but I do appreciate everyone that is a positive influence on my life.

My older sister who lives in Virgina, always takes family and friends to the memorial park on this special day to see all the monuments. I was awestruck from what I learned about the human will to survive and uphold freedom. It was long ago but I can remember standing at my favorite monument, the one with the soldiers holding up our waving flag in battle how nice it is to be here. Then Lincoln's statue overlooking the entire park that we climb many steps just to sit to the sunset watching everyone peacefully gather.

As Hu said, we worked hard for everything we get. Must be nice to have a day with such a special person. Tell him he is appreciated for me. Thanks!

Thanks again to everyone who posted, it is always nice to find others who can appreciate what you also think is important!!!!!!

Have a great Memorial Day, and in closing there is nothing wrong with keeping this spirit all year long, our soldiers certainly are not rewarded on a regular basis. I remember when I was a Young soldier, it was nice when some one took the time simply say thanks for your service. It doesn't cost anything but it certainly means a great deal to the men and women who serve our country.

Thanks again to everyone who took the time to post to this thread, I am grateful for your participation.

I understand and try to do it as often a possible, trouble is I usually kinda break up when saying it. Still try though . . .

God bless them, one and all

I am with you there, for me I sometimes see faces of friends I have lost over the years and while it is nice, it also can be very painful!!!!!:(

Thanks for posting!!!!

Very touching and thoughtful posts by all. I would just like to add a simple thank you to all the men & women that have served, are serving and/or gave their lives fighting for our freedom. THANK YOU!

Dave

Those who serve and those who have served are the backbone of our freedoms and our safety. We must never take our freedoms or those who so bravely defend them for granted, and our debt to them is one we can never repay in full.

Thank You!
