Very new to the area here.

Any chance that I can link up and play a little with some of the local AZ'ers in the area?

Thanks!!!

howdy sixshooter - I'm in the area, shoot me a private message when you're free. I'm tied up this weekend but should be free most days after that.

I'm in Fairfax and play in Manassas. Usually shoot Thursdays and a couple random visits other days if I have time.

Welcome to the area. I dont get out often as wife puts the cabash on it but that will be changing as I should have quite a bit of time starting mid june. There are a handful of AZ folks that are in near by--good players too! Someone pick a day/time and see if we can get black-balled out and a bout...

Checkout www.actionpooltour.com for relatively local action as well.

I'm in Arlington. I don't get out as much as I used to, but I'd be up for shooting some. When I do get out, I usually go to the place previously known as Champions in Shirlington.

Yes, Walt, but is that 4th place finish paying the bills???? Pool is where it's at!

Thanks to you all for the responses. I am grateful for the oportunity to meet y'all.

I'm not much of a gambler so I don't go out looking for action or a fish (unless it's a large mouth bass). However; I don't mind playing for a round of drinks or someone's lunch, etc. I wouldn't mind being a rail bird though and watching a little gambling.

I'm not sure what games are the most popular here. Sorry, I come here from the Atlanta area so primarily there's a lot of 8 ball and 9 ball there unless I went to the far corners.

Feel free to pm any info you want to share.

For me, though there is a competitive spirit, it really is all about establishing a trustworthy network of new friends.

As far as home, I can get out pretty much any time I want to. My best half does not mind at all. She actually goes to bed before the chickens do.

I actually like to play several games. 8B, 9B, 10B, Cribbage, 6 Pocket, Snooker. Prefer 9' tables. Not much of a BB shooter but I will if necessary. Not trying to be picky. LOL. I'm just like everone else about preferences. Would really like to experiment a little more with one hole and 14.1 too if there is interest there. Not quite confident in my own abilities to do much tourney stuff yet. Still have a ways to go before I will feel that I am ready for constant tournament play, but I dolike to be a railbird at them and socialize.

Thanks for the welcome. Ready to play just about any time.

Anytime after the 17th, pick a date/location and I will show. Arlington might be a good spot as previous posts have noted the staff are lookers (tables are good).....if you want serious pool we can never go wrong with the old Champions.

Thanks Perk.

I keep hearing about Champions. I'm guessing it's a good place.

So far the only place I've been to is Fast Eddie's in Springfield.

Fair warning, if you decide to try out Champions (now called Lucy's ARL), it's a bit... erm, ghetto. And some of the tables in the larger room have brutal rolls, at least the ones with blue felt near the wall. There's a smaller area to the left as you walk in with just 4 tables. I've played on 2 of 'em with no complaints. So I'd say it's at least worth checking out. For really top notch equipment, nothing beats Q-ball in Springfield.

I'm over in the Oxon Hill, MD area.

I think Springfield/ Q Ball is prob best bet...tables are good and so is the owner.

Shirlington/ Lucy's gave our esteemed AZBro, billy, a major screw over. I am a pretty easy going guy but it is gonna need to be a real special set of circumstances for that place to ever get a penny out of me.

And I was one of the crew who opened that place, so it does have a sort of special place in my memory. Fuggit!

I know Billy got screwed, but was it the owners of the building, or the people currently running it?

Creedo--You have a pretty low tolerance for risk if you find Lucy's threatening (yes, I know the history, but that was an employee, not a customer).

In any case, I should be able to come out and shoot on or after the 17th. I've never heard of Q-Ball Billiards, but I'd be happy to check out a new place.

I think I remember Champions...was that the place that used to be on the second floor (the ground floor is a parking lot) with a next door pro shop/pool table store? Kind of in a rough place near a high-speed intersection/overpass off 95? If it is, I remember it closing for a while in 2007 or so...I joined a local "filipino pool players' association" for weekly tournaments (you obviously didn't have to be a filipino), but shortly after posting the annual fees the league mysteriously shut down...shot maybe three small tournaments, couple of monsters were in it. Kind of a run down place, had a sink on the back wall to wash your hands in. I wasn't really so angry at the association folding with my money (it was like $50), as the loss of the action...
