Looks like I'll have a day or two in Seattle and the chance to play some in the coming months. What would be the best room to play at?

Oh yes: and do they have any Daily Specials :-)

Seattle area

Lou, you are going to want to make it to the Golden Fleece in Kenmore, WA a Seattle suburb. Anybody that is into playing serious pool n the area will play there. Diamond tables all around. Great folks.

I dan't know, Tommy -- I tried calling them and I get the: # is no longer in service message. I get that a lot nowadays with so many rooms going under.

I hope the hell they are not out of business. I think they are supposed to host a regional women's pro event very shortly. I am trying to get you a better number.

No, I do not know why.

i think someone should let these halls know he is coming because we all know what will happen if he thinks he got ripped for 10 bucks :)

The Golden Fleece changed their number, but I dont know what the new one is.

I know that they are still open and I do believe there opening time in 11am and there closing time is always questionable since they will stay open as late as anyone is in there playing.

As far as specials, think its like $10 or $15 to play all day until a certain time like 7pm. Then its like $5 an hour after that, but I think that even gets cut off at a max of $20. Regardless, its pretty inexpensive to play there and its a great environment.

The first time going there, its a little hard to find since there is really no signage above the red double doors. To help you find it, its located across the parking lot from Kenmore Lanes in the same building as the grocery store. When looking at the grocery store building, about 3/4 of the way on your left, there is a red double door that is the main entrance to the pool hall.

At far as the atmosphere, there is no loud music, no smoking, and really no horseplay. I would consider the Golden Fleece a pool players pool hall.

There is plenty of action to be had if looking for that, but also, there is nobody going to try and bark you into action if you know what I mean and plenty of players that are more than willing to just have fun and play the game.

Have fun and hope this helps.

I have never played at Malarkey's, however, I did go there to see Varner and Archer. I will say it had a great atmosphere and the food was excellent!

Love this place. I try to frequent this place as much as I can.
As a sub par recreational player, I don't feel out of place... Just straight up pool.

GF and Malarkeys are both good for action. The fleece is probably better at this time allthough the APA has taken over for the time being and they shoved severl 9 footers out of the way as they recently did at Malarkeys (glad that is over, but not complaining).

We at Malarkeys are getting the ocasional refugee from the Fleece during the APA team tournaments.

Hopefully the APA falderal will be over by the time I go. It'll be a month or three before I go. I just like to know ahead of time whether I should build some pool time into the trip :-)
