Question about a Meucci I bought

I just had a question or two about a cue I bought off of craigslist. I'll get right to the point. Basically, a lady was selling a Meucci cue because she was moving and her husband could not shoot pool anymore due to health reasons. The cue was listed at 25.00 and I'm like wow for a Meucci? Whats wrong with it? I got there and looked over it and it was just a bit dirty and needed cleaned. I rolled it together and apart and it rolls beautifully. The problem is this...

She told me she believed the cue to be about 20 years old. When I got home, I looked up Meucci cues to try and find the design on this cue. Took a bit but I finally found it to be the Meucci HOF1. What I don't get is that this cue is still being produced. Maybe this cue was very popular and they have produced it for 20 years but thats one of my questions as well. So:

1. Has the HOF1 been produced for the last 20 years?
2. It is currently produced with a black dot shaft where as the one I have doesn't have a black dot I believe its pre dot or the black dot is gone. Have they only ever been produced with a black dot shaft?
3. What is the value of the cue used and in good condition right now?

The reason I am asking the questions including the value is because I am looking to get rid of the cue. I am going to sell or trade it because I am looking to get a new beak cue. Particularly a Poison VX 2.9 break cue. I want to have all the facts about the cue when I go to get rid of it and also to determine whether the cue would be valued high enough to trade straight up for a poison vx 2.9 break cue or possibly valued at more.

Yeah, I know I got a great deal even if there was an issue with it (though there wasn't) or if it was 20 years old. I like the cue but I'm stuck on my Pechauer and just don't want to get used to it so I don't want to be tempted to all of a sudden switch in a game, lol.
 
Meucci has made this cue for a very long time. I am not sure exactly how long though. Meucci originals did not have black dot shafts nor did they have the red dot. So it is possible that this cue pre-dates both. You should be able to tell right away if it is a black dot shaft with the dot removed somehow. Look for straight lines down the shaft. That will be the layers of wood laminated together. Other than that I would recommend calling Bob Meucci. He will be able to tell you more about the cue and possible price value. You can go to Meuccicues.com to get the phone number. As for selling it, you might do well to check Ebay. I have seen tons of meucci cues there.

My friend has that same cue with a black dot shaft. I wanna say he's had it about ten years at least.

Like Rio said, the black dot shaft is a laminate shaft and just looking at it you can see layers of wood. As for a pre-dot shaft, I don't know how you would determine if it is a muecci. If it is, it's worth some bucks. A lot of people prefer the pre-dot shafts. I don't believe you can buy a new no dot shaft from muecci, someone correct me if I'm wrong. I can't see why someone would remove the black dot. The thought crossed my mind when I was thinking about buying a sneaky pete just to make it more stealthy, but on a regular cue. . .??

When I bought my muecci I was watching e-bay closely and used black dot shaft cues were going for $150 and up and yours should be right there if not more.

For $25.00 just buy it, you don't have to play with it. Sell it for a profit, give it to someone who needs a cue, what ever.

It was a 95-11 17 years ago, you could buy it at Muellers for 262.50,Billiard Zone 235.00,and Gates billiards for 217.50 brand new.

The HOF Series has been produced for close to, if not more than 20 years,,,,,the series is based on a few very popular designs that pre date the HOF Series,,,,,,and basically the designs live on through the HOF Series' continued production even though the original series of each of the cues has long since ceased. The original HOF Series came out Pre-Red Dot, and so has been sold with and without red dot and black dot shafts.
The Red dot marked what Meucci called the Spine of the shaft, and the Black dot is actually a laminated shaft. I doubt you could remove either dot without it being very noticable, which makes me think you have a pre-dot shaft, and in even remotely straight condition, would be pretty desireable to many Meucci collectors.

HOF came out in 1997 I think
 
Sorry for the delayed respond but thanks to everyone for their replies. Its all great info. Someone asked if I could post some pics of it which I am glad to do. This way someone can perhaps clarify with 100% certainty that it is or is not a Meucci shaft. Also, I went over the shaft and I could not find a flat spot where the dot would have been shaved off or anything indicating that it was a black dot. Also, the collar of it matches the cue so I am assuming it is a real pre-dot meucci shaft. Here are the pics. Any additional info is much appreciate (by the way I know some of these are blurry and I am sorry but I take the worst picture on the planet).

Okay this cue was first made in the 80's as an original. They quit making it for a few years and brought it back by popular demand. Bob decided to bring it back in the early 90's before there was a red dot or a bulls eye black dot shaft. It has been made every since then. So this cue has seen every change in Meucci's history from the original to the Meucci scripted when first made was no dot to the red dot and the bulls eye black dot shaft. Hope this helps, oh and as far as value, I will be honest, with any make/brand it is a buyers market!

The reason it is called the HOF/Hall of fame is because it was a great hit for Meucci in the 80's original era

The cue was made after 1990 according to the logo on the butt cap. If the cue is straight together and apart, you should be able to get between $180 and $250 depending upon where you sell it.

By the way nice pick up you did very well for $25!!:)

This exact cue was indeed made in 1990 or later however there was a Meucci original of this cue in the mid 80's, it was a success and they brought it back as a HOF series!

As previously mentioned, this is a classic Meucci design. I purchased one in 1988. The Blue Book lists it as MO-7 (Meucci Originals). If you google Meucci MO-7, you'll find several examples. I sold mine to some friends a couple of years ago. My old cue is still straight and plays great. I did a lot of searching around the time I sold mine. Craig's (manwon) estimated value range is completely in line with what I found.

I owned 3 Meucci's from that era, pre-dots. Very good quality shaft wood, amazing when you consider it was a production cue. I still own my Meucci S/P from 1991-2.
