Found this tOday while out thrifting and hitting up pawn shops. I'm thinking Adam or something along that line, but for some reason the pin & joint doesn't click for me. Piloted 5/16x18 with a 1/2" collar, 1/4" on each side. The pilot is sleeved in wood with square shoulders vs rounded and the pin is flat on top vs pointy or rounded. Super dense, but also super boring maple I believe. It feels like it should be a good breaker, as I bought it for breaking. Anyway, any ideas?

That is an interesting cue, the finish looks well done, and the wood used looks quality, but the design (I mean looks not construction) and no markings speaks cheapo import.
 
I feel the same. It's the pin and joint that's throwing me. I was looking at the pin last night and noticed, as you can see in the 3rd pic, that in the center of the flat spot on the head of the pin has an itty bitty nipple vs dimple.

I took some measurements last night.

57", even spilt
.825 at the joint
1.055 where the A-joint would be
1.198 at the bottom of the wrap, if the was one
1.227 at the top of the buttcap
1.236 at the end of the buttcap

The butt cap is 1.15" in length and the pin sticks out 3/4" exactly.

Tightly, no. It seems to fit just perfect. OD of pilot is .525 and ID of joint is .528. The recess in the joint is .25".
 
Does the fact that the buttcap is on a thin sleeve of wood suggest anything?

I was searching Adam cues in the forum and found the same pin and buttcap sleeved over wood. I'm pretty sure it's an Adam also, but I can't find a matching joint.
 
I've had several cues with adams.logos with that short piloted joint. To me that was one of the identifiers.

What are you thinking it is?

Yes that is an Adam cue. made in the late 70's or very early 80's. Not their most common joint for sure, But you do come across them. I'll have to do some brainstorming to give you the cue series though...Gettin old...

Well...I would call that a closed issue. He knows his Adam cues.

I figured it was Adam as well, the bumper alone is correct among other things, but that joint was bothering me as it was others. I just haven't seen many like that I guess.

What is really remarkable is the condition of that cue especially in light of the age. It really looks to be in extremely nice condition. :smile:
