9ball World Championship, Doha, Qatar 2012

Ralf committed a mental error in 2nd to last shot of the final game of quarter final match on the 7 ball, he picked corner pocket very tough cut, side pocket would have been easier to make, and position, he missed the 7...

I thought shape was easier playing the 7 in the corner, though pocketing the ball was harder in the corner than playing the 7 in the side.

Just four:

Ralf Souquet vs. He Wen Lee

and

Darren Appleton vs. Ohi Naoyuki

In my mind Ralf and Daz are the odds on favorites because of previous wins and experience,,but as close at the QF matches were, it could be anybody's title for the taking.

Yes, another attribute that helps Ralf win matches is that he's one of the best pool players that ever lived. I also think he plays pool with more sportsmanship than any player since Irving Crane.

On the other hand, there is no doubt that Ralf plays slowly, but he makes all the right choices and tends to execute those choices with as much accuracy as any player alive. Like you, I'd favor the use of the shot clock in every single match at the pro level in all major WPA events.

Agree here!
But what is much more funny is, that as soon as the shot-clock appears..........he plays in perfect shot-clock rythm. I could laugh my ass off every time if that happens :)

It'll come down to who can get their rest and a good nights sleep, along with some definite detachment away from the game before the last two matches start.
Go Ralph, youth is a knockin, BUT experience and calmness and game management, give you and the apple the edge.

I agree when it used to be winner's break and not many fancy rules. Now the Odds in my opinion is "Luck" they all can play, having seen Dennis Orchilio loose that was really bad, he played flawless pool in the US prior to his trip to Qatar i had him as the winner!! I knew Efren was not gonna make it, they all know he is tought, so everyone give him their ow!
