Alternative to Gold Crown?

We just bought a brand new 2012 raised ranch with a 25' by 28' unobstructed room on the lower floor (LVL beams overhead). The room is unfinished (no drywall yet) so I can do what ever I want with it... i.e. pool room.

The default table I'd like to buy is a 9' gold crown since those are the competition standard (Snookers RI).

My wife hates the look of the gold crown's, referring them as something George Jetson would use.

So I need something that looks pretty, and something that plays as well as competition tables.

I think this decision will also be like buying a guitar, where I would have to try the brand of table out before I consider buying it. If anyone knows of locations let me know.

Thanks

Then buy a Diamond Paragon...and let your wife choose the cloth color:grin:

What you need to do is in a very nice way tell her she has a whole house to decorate and you have a simple little pool room. And if that doesn't work you may have to resort to harsher measures.

Youd have to ask her. She wants straight wooden legs.

I'm with Tony...the Diamond pro-am.
Get the diamond-wood rails...and let your wife chose the color.
...and show her the matching light shade.

The Diamond is a nice compromise...a world class table and a nice
piece of furniture.

option

I always liked the Marc Lehmacher Atlantis Table from Germany. You can probably pick one up used for a reasonable price.

I would think that if you get any table that has good bones and that she likes,, the real king Cobra can build it to tourney specs.

I forgot about the Lemacher....it's a good looking table.
Dufferin made a similar model, the Titan with the 'champagne' option.

Don't let the gorilla, draggin' their knuckles guys give you shit, If mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.
Like I said, any table with good bones can be redone with new cloth and rails to play like a GC3. If I am wrong, I'm sure the realkingcobra will correct me.

Haha, yes. They just don't understand. They haven't recognized the victory that I already won by buying the house with her. If I have to I'll play pool with pink ankle-warmers, in my own house :)

The compromise is that the table has to look like a piece of furniture as well; dark wood, and inclosed pockets (she doesn't like the "tassels"). I have plenty of time to hunt. Years even. Got some good ideas from the thread already.

who's realkingcobra? A table specialist?

I once dated a girl with a straight wooden leg. I didn't know it until I got her in the hotel room.

She was in the shower when I saw the wooden leg on the bed. I started playing with it and it came all apart.

I got so nervous I went down to the bar and started banging shots down like they were going out of style.

The guy next to me said, "What's wrong buddy?"

I said, "I got my girls leg apart on the bed and I don't know what to do!"

He said, "That's not so bad. I got both of my girls legs apart and I can't remember the room number!" :killingme::rolleyes:

Hmm, what about the Brunswick Treviso. How does this compare to the GC?

How about a 5'x10' Diamond ProAm?
