My first post and hello to all.

You're very welcome Jay, I think you should ask our friend in the Philippines of the true causes of why Taiwanese don't want to travel to the states for big tournaments and post it here, I believe that should be quite interesting to know for the members. But I once talked to Gallego in the then San Miguel tour here in Kaohsiung and he told me that Taiwanese players don't get along with the U.S. players, Nor the pool-associated organizations too. So which side should I take? Anyway, I don't know if that plays a role, but if it does, then I think the Taiwanese players aren't quite clever. They should go and try their luck for the big bucks, I have to believe that luck is an important factor in 9 ball cause many players from different nations told me that, "in 9 ball, if you're lucky you win". And if the Japanese can go there with their English then why can't the Taiwanese? Japanese only know from A-J according to my knowledge. But I do know that Taiwanese fans truly dislike Earl for sure, they call him "shitrickland" in the forums... And what does "imo" stand for?

However, I think there should be a major tournament staged here in Taiwan annually just like before. For the ladies every year is a success as the Amway Cup, many people watch through TV or attend the event, the mayor will be there for the finals too. I think the then World Pool Championship is now the World 10 ball in Philippines? And if that's the case then it's all Luke Riches' fault, he was probably pissed that in 2005 the venue sucks so bad in Kaohsiung. The place was dirty, foods sucked, the electricity jumped Twice during the matches. Even the results were bogus as Efren got knocked out in the group round, both Earl and Archer and Yang got knocked out in the round of 64, and a 15 year old won the tournament. But someone close to Luke please tell him that we do have a much better venue owned by the government here in Kaohsiung and it's definitely available for international pool tournaments. In fact, Taiwan's organizers knew they had made a mistake too as they should never chosen that place to begin with. And now they have to pay a price and for some reasons I think I got dragged down too... I want to meet the players and watch high level matches and meet Luke himself man!

Ok, I'll press "enter" every once in a while since you requested...

And klong bro, it's nice to know that you go to Johnny's place and next time you see him please tell him that the "U.S. power" Taiwanese fan says hi, thanks. Actually I told Lee the same thing, that if he needs a translator just call me and pay for my costs and I'll do it. Except that I'll take him to Taco Bell and White castle. Can you believe neither of them exist in Taiwan? Man, I miss some of the American foods man...

And yes I know how she thinks of my looks. Just above average is what she says but she doesn't care too much about looks. She thinks that I will take care of her, be a responsible family man and all that, and there's a "feeling" that she can't describe, I guess that's it.

BTW I don't know how to post a picture on the internet, but trust me she's just average looking with a body not very sexy either.

Ok, I think you're real. You are displaying some Taiwanese practicality. A lot of Taiwanese I know are pretty matter-of-fact about things and not given to romantic notions.

If your girlfriend promises to tolerate your pool playing no matter what then marry her.

I haven't played pool in about 15 years, and she can tolerate a lot more than that. My personaltiy is closer to the American side and both my boss and gf said I must change that in order to fully adapt to Taiwanese environment and culture, also be more welcomed by Taiwanese people. I don't quite get the term "I'm real", can you elaborate that?

I take it back, maybe you're not. If your girlfriend is telling you you have to change then perhaps you shouldn't marry her.

Apparently she is however very tolerant. You won't get far in the USA by telling a woman she is just average looking and that you are trolling internet forums asking strangers if you should marry her even though she is just average.

Of course I won't let her know I'm here doing this or else she'll go nuts although she has a good temper. And there's no possible ways that she'll know this site too, she's totally non-pool-related. I don't know man, I think if you tell an average looking lady that she's pretty she might think you're lying. Just like if someone tells me that I'm ugly I wouldn't buy it either...^__^ See you tomorrow.

Well, lets put it this way why Filipinos have the luxury to go to US to play
1. they all have sponsors/manager who pay for their ticket, hotels and pocket money, in return the sponsors/manager gets 30% cut of their winnings less all expenses. if the player losses then loss for the sponsor/manager. its not always win-win situation for every sponsor/manager.
2. unlike most of the players from other country, they pay for their own plane fare, hotels and allowances, pressure is in them to at least place into the winning to at least break even with their own pocket money. lets take the case for Yang Ching Shun who i believe went to the USA a few months ago, he did have an interpreter with him but never got any big action, why? well not every international pool players can give balls handicapped to fellow international pool players, they can give no. of games ahead but not used to give balls handicap. unlike the Filipinos they used to give balls handicap to fellow Filipino and International pool players, and they still manage to win convincingly.
we have let Chang Jun Lin and Ko Pin Yi played in our local pool hall here in the Philippines, just imagine what are the results they both lost. they cant play in worse pool table condition, i think Jay to attest to that.

3. i think there would no longer be any world 10 ball championship here, no news about it.

Too funny...

Aw man, you get married to a person because of what is in their heart and yours, not how good looking they are.

Maybe she is posting on another forum.

"Should I marry this guy, he is nice but he has a little wee wee". How would that make you feel?

Do her a favor and set her free.

BTW, welcome to the forums.

Lmao :grin::rotflmao:

Hi Joyren,

Thanks a lot for the information!

As for point No. 1, that's a true luxury for the Pinoy players and if I have the money and time, I would sponsor Chao, Che Yu (I think that's how to spell it?) for the females. She's by far the best player in Taiwan and she has the talent and willingness to put in a lot of efforts. She's also very offensive-minded which I like a lot about it too. A lot of Taiwanese players like to play safe when the shot is makeable and I just don't appreciate it. Although it could be a hard shot but if it's makeable then go for it, especially if you're a pro. It tells me that they don't have confidence and accuracy of making shots which is the most important thing in pool and they should, and will be eaten alive by the top-notches. As for men I would pick Chang, Jun Lin. I knew back in 2005 that he's got game when he played Earl and Rodney (In fact, he should have beaten Rodney in the round of 16 and who knows what would happened), he was sharked by this matter and I don't want to mention it. But he has matured a lot personality-wise over the years by taking this mind-growing lesson.

As for point No. 2, you're totally right my friend. As I was in a steak dinner with Corey and Gabe after they both advanced to the round of 32 in 2005, Corey said he had just broke even. I don't know about other nations but in Taiwan giving games is the style whether in the tournament or gambling. While in the states giving balls is the style. The only player I know that can give both balls and games is the late great Ginky. I saw him once in Chelsea gambling by giving this guy from Germany games but lost, but the german guy played very well, he was running racks and making tough shots. One thing worth mention is that Ginky wasn't afraid of losing nor feel bad, which I think it's one of the reasons he was so good, that he appreciate and give credit to other strong shooters. He often gave both balls and games in this local tournament in the old Golden-Q
(what's that place now btw?) And he once won 3 straight weeks and that's nearly IMPOSSIBLE! I also played him in that tournament and he gave me the 5 ball and 4 games race to 8. He ended up beat me 8-7... There's a thread "the most memorable game that you've won" and this is my "most memorable game that I've lost..." You may think I was a fish but I really don't give a flying **** about what others think, I only care about the real strong ones opinions.

About point No. 3. Well, I just read the first story in the front page that there's a world team tournament staged in Philippines every year. That's even bigger than the individual ones because that's about National PRIDE MAN!!!!!! I don't mind there's a major tournament takes place in the Philippines every year cause I think the country deserves it. But what's wrong with Luck Riches? Does Taiwan deserve one too? Even the government will back it up for Christ sake! And matchroom will sure make profits from it. Thank God that Luke's information is also given and I'll write a mail and even call him one of these days to discuss this issue. Heck, I'm using company's phone and if my boss asks me why did I call to England when the bill comes, I'll just say I found a potential client. Don't forget my title is "International Sales Representative".....^__^ ^__^ He's too rich anyway, might as well spend some for him. So I'll see you guys tomorrow, later.
