CJ Wiley's New Blog

So what. English people eat dried blood and brains as lunch meat...

I prefer contrast in color. But it's your dream so I will step off now...

Just as you could order something different for lunch while in England:rolleyes: you could always request a normal set of balls to play one pocket with as well;)

You could make the balls whatever color you like, and I do think you need a catchy name....nothing's coming to me at the moment, but I'll give you some suggestions if anything "hits me".....I love the table idea though and you said it only takes 10 minutes to make the changes? Do you need any special tools ?

CJ, That's one beautiful full-bush mullet you had during the Sigel match.

I had one back then but nowhere near as glorious as yours...:smile::thumbup:

You certainly know the old CJ's Billiard Palace scene....I still see Ben and Roman around once in awhile in various places, but there really isn't any good tables to play on in Dallas right now.....I've had several offers and checking out various locations....I want to be centrally located, maybe somewhere off 75 or 35....just depends if I go for Lewisville, Dallas, or maybe even Sherman...I'll give it another month to decide.

Tell us more about your plans for your new room, like how many tables do you plan to have, 8s & 9s etc..., You said you want to be centrally located, have you thought about putting in a room in Arlington? possibly somewhere close to the new Cowboys Stadium & the Ballpark. I know you will want the room to be in a somewhat affluent neighborhood and Arlington is centrally located between Dallas & Ft. Worth.

People would be able to stop in for a few games and some drinks after taking in a Cowboys or Rangers game, or they could drop the kids off at 6 Flags and spend all day playing Pool. Arlington is pretty much the party town for DFW so you would be able to have the room open 24/7 and be able to make it work. The only 24/7 room we have now is Rusty's, and I know you can put a better room together than they have!

It would be nice to see some of the old gang from CJ's Billiard Palace again, I see Ben Tubbs occasionally when I'm in Dallas, and some of the old regulars still hang out at what used to be the Clicks on Skillman. I heard Larry Fisher got Married and gave the game up.

Whatever happened to Clint that was your lead Bartender for a long time at the old CJ's ?

Arlington would be consideration, but I'm more interested in Dallas, Lewisville and Sherman for the first one....I still see Ben and a lot of the regulars around town, but there's just no nice places to play here anymore....I'm not sure about Clint, and I haven't seen Larry F. in quite awhile...the Dallas pool scene has had a fork in it for years now...it's sad compared to how it was in the mid 90's....of course on one is promoting pool these days so it just needs to be "jump started".....Cya

Thanks, I don't think that will ever be in style again :deadhorse:

All you need is a drill, 9/16'' socket, and one other person to lift off the rails and switch them with the next set, so...24 bolts off, 24 bolts on and you're done;)

It was kind of a Macgyver look. (LOL)

Did you beat Sigel in that match?

It went down to the last game and he lucked the 9 in on me....he hooked himself (he is Captain Hook ) , then kicked hard at the ball and made a combination on the 9BALL in the corner directly at my chair....I felt like someone stabbed me....for a few seconds I couldn't even move....oh, well, a lot of these pool results are "in the stars" as Sigel used to say :shocked2:

Is smoking a consideration one way or the other ? I think somewhere in Plano/Richardson 75/190 area would be great. Of course I live in Sachse  Seriously though.

There's a place in Sherman for sale that I got a call about today....going to check it out later...it would be close for you....it seems to be a nice area.

Hi CJ
Just wanted to thank you for contributing to AZ. It is much appreciated. Very insightful reading.
Thanks again!
Jason

CJ, I own that well played match.... My fav of yours by far was when you beat earl 13-8.... The commentary by pretty boy floyd was outstanding... Guy was a natural stand-up comedian...

Anyway, expected a wide open match with lots of fireworks between you two.... Instead, there was quite a bit of defensive battles... You outmoved earl throughout the match to my surprise... Later, confessed to playin a lil one hole during the interview... Said it had helped you with your moving...

I was also impressed with your work in the booth with Jay during Archer vs Morra in Tunica... Your mind is def still in this game... Called almost every shot... It was starting to get to Jay after awhile....:D

Some of my favorite matches were early to mid 90's.... I remember either Grady or Billy in one of the matches talking about you achieving "the zone" through meditation, breathing exercises, etc.... Is this true??? I know that you were into martial arts for some time....

Yes, I have experience with all the things you mentioned....I trained to be able to get into "The Zone" and out of it quickly when I started playing a lot of TV matches...that's the most difficult thing, is to go back and forth, but if you don't you seem to be "robot" on TV and that is boring to fans.....I'm getting to that point again and it's been even more difficult this time, mainly because I can't get as many games and tournaments as I once did.....we used to play until someone won, now they want to play a race with time limits etc., it's a totally different mentality, and I'll just have to adjust to it....I can't wait to get something good going here in Dallas again where I can play more and get back to 100%....I stay at about 85% and that's not going to win against the top players....but they still can't give me much weight....at least there hasn't been any offers yet ;) ...I'll go over some of what you mentioned in either my new DVD's or in my blog....I'm eager to share info. however, some of the best stuff will be on my next DVD's ... I'm glad you enjoyed my matches with Earl...I just watched the finals of the Million Dollar Challenge last night....we've had some slug fests and I'm fortunate to have played very well against him ... pool's getting fun again, that's what's important to me right now...aloha

what is your opinion on efren, im guessing you have played him a few times?

Yes, I've played Efren several times in tournaments and gambling matches...he's certainly one of the best players of all time in virtually all types of billiard/pool games.

I don't think they sell it anymore, but there was a match CJ played against Dave Bollman that was great to watch. Bollman did a player review of it.

CJ runs out a very tough rack to win, in a tight match, in about 45 seconds and Bollman is just laughing about it in the commentary.
