Who had the greatest Break in History?

I only problem is that Corey (as good of a player as he is) hasn't won anything substantial with his soft break. One can even venture to say that his soft break may be a bottleneck.

????????????The us open isn't substantial????? Being the only person to win 11-0 in the us open isn't substantial??????? Have you even seen that match or even know anything about the guy????????

I guess the missing word is "consistently". I did not see the US Open match. His break may very well have worked that time. But that was 10 years ago.

I understand Wiki doesn't contain all titles he's won, but can you honestly say he been consistently snapping up big international tournaments year on year. With his abilities, I think he might have been more successful if he had stayed with a more traditional break.

I agree the Magic Rack makes pocketing the balls easier and more consistent, hence you always see multiple balls drop on every break. However, the Magic Rack doesn't make you break harder or your cue ball move less after the break. Chang's break isn't the hardest (but is pretty hard by pro's standards), but it looks like he's only trying to hit it at 50% of his maximum speed. Even then, he hits it pretty hard with as much control as possible. (you get a random kiss by an object ball once in a while, but no one can avoid that).

Again, hardest does not equal best. I bet his break is just as effective without a magic rack.

The reason Wade Crane had such a strong break was because he could avoid the kisses, by the cueball getting airborn.

Ok one word makes a big difference:thumbup:. I think corey is still one of the smartest players in the world. And can take down any tournament as long as he is focused.

You're right about Corey. I had forgotten about him. The reason the other poster may not have though Corey is as strong as he is could be age. Corey was quite prominent about 10 years ago or more, but in recent times, he hasn't been following the tournament trail as much. I don't blame him, either. He's already been there and done that, and there's no money in pool. Competing for bragging rights and tin cups is about all there is, these days.

I did not know that about Corey doing an 11-0 in the U.S. Open. WOW!

Someone familiar to CJ Doug Smith, and another name he knows George Breedlove, Doug had a great bar table break and George had a great big table break.
