These are 3 very handy resources to keep on file for an instant answer about nearby local tournaments and places to play in any given U.S. area. Just type in your home location -- or a location you may be traveling through -- and any other pertinent data (zip code, distance you'd care to drive, etc.)

It's advisable of course to give any interesting ones a prior phone call to allow for the fact that a small percentage of the venues may have closed or changed tournament schedules:

As close as I can tell, the first one is completely broken.

I tried 5 different places and it was either nothing or places ive never heard of...

As with all pool sites and searches I have tried, they list very old info. At least 6 of the rooms in the first 2 pages of playpool.com for my area are closed, and many I have never heard of.

The findpooltournamets site goes in the other direction, listing nothing within 100 miles of me.

Not broken at all, Bob -- at least whenever I do a search there.

After reading your above post, I just now spent two minutes to do 2 searches at random there. I typed in Phoenix, AZ and then Tucson, AZ.

Turned up 69 places to play in Phoenix for the first search, then 33 places in Tucson for the second.

I'm of course not at all attesting to the quality of the cited pool venues the search turned up . . . simply saying that the the above-referenced link works fine on my computer. Sometimes there are compatibility issues from a given link to a given computer's security or other settings.

Technical computer issues are unfortunately, as they say in government-speak, well beyond my pay grade.

Hope the links do help a few players.

My findpooltournaments site is totally maintained by anyone who wants to add tournaments. It's for tournament holders or just people who want to let others know of tournaments. It seems to be catching on in some areas.

The people adding tournaments also maintain them. If I get an email that one is no longer being held, I can mark it inactive.

One user can add as many tournaments as they wish. If anyone knows of a tournament that is not on the site feel free to add it.

I originally created a local Indy site, indypooltournaments.com, because I had a hard time finding tournaments in my area. I asked APA and Valley players to notify me of any tournaments they knew of so I could add them to the site.

I thought people in other states may benefit from such a site, so I created findpooltournaments.com. I don't have a lot of time to maintain it, so I decided to design it so users can maintain their own tournaments.
I may monitor additions, but that’s about it. It’s up to players or tournament holders to add to the site.
