The reason I was checking out that YouTube video was to share with a lady on my industry forum. Her mother is Filipino, and she grew up in California. She said that she was discriminated against as a young girl, and it still hurts today.
I wanted to kind of let her know that not everybody fosters hate and prejudice against Filipinos; in fact, I wanted to share with her the Filipino pool players are regarded as solid gold in the pool world; thus, the reason why I shared that video link with her.
In all of my experience dealing with my Filipino friends and players, they are genuinely warm and friendly. Last time I saw Bustie, he came up and gave me a big hug -- from BEHIND around fat tummy. :embarrassed2:
Jose Parica is the only player I've let stay at my home. He has no bad habits, doesn't smoke, drink, or use drugs. He does like the horses, but, hey, we all have something we do in life that may not be somebody else's cup of tea. :grin-square:
Jose, in particular, had helped my partner out numerous times before I met him, and that's something you just don't forget. Here's a cute shot of my partner, Jose, and Ronnie. :smile:
At the time, Ronnie was worried about getting back home to Philippines, as his paperwork was not right. He eventually made it and thereafter won the World Pool Championship in 2006 in his home country. What a great success story!
