Run-Out-a-Day YouTube challenge.

Last I heard Neil is living the dream life in Hawaii. He's one of the nicest guys I ever met. He always made himself available for advice.

And if Butch, Ramsey, and Larry are shortstops, then you're right. I'm not in their category yet, though I did get the better of Grossman a few Sundays ago, for a fourth place finish at Park Ave. (brag)

Went for two today and rushed it away. I will work on that.

Here's day 6:

Hey Grand,
Would that be David Grossman? I wish you success with your endeavor! Keep up the good work!
Thanks.
Many Regards,
Lock N Load.

Yep, that's the one. :)

David is a cool guy on and off the felt. He's been giving me some advice, which I really appreciate because I don't feel he's into offering instruction right now. I'll take what I can get from him. I've never been given any formal training, but I have considered hiring him for some lessons.

Right now I can't afford to pay him what he deserves. But if The GRAND Tour takes off, I promised him we'd get him into the majors where he belongs. I'm hoping I can make good on that one.

Anyway, look for one of my run-out's to come on David's home table.

More soon,

Robert

I like your idea and I wish I had the time to do something like that. My days aren't long enough and I can't find the time for pool like I wish I could!

If you complete your "run-a-rack-a-day" challenge, I will make a $100 donation to the charity or charitable cause of your choice. That breaks down to about .27 cents that you earn per run.

no hard feelings if you do not complete the task
best of luck to ya

Mr Bond I will match your offer, I will also donate $100 to the charity of choice of GrandTour. I applaud your effort sir and wish you the best of luck you are now earning .54/rack for charity, I like your chances as you have it pretty solid between the ears. I also like David G very much, I do not know him personally but I have played him a couple of times in tourneys and he is a real sportsman.

Break n Run

Have you tried a cut break, putting the cueball about 6" right of center on the break, and use right english going to the right side rail and back with the cueball making the wing ball, and playing shape on the 1 in the lower corner pocket. Get this down and you will not have to play many racks to run out.

Backplaying has a good idea here. This break works pretty good for accomplishing just what he says.

Getting your Break Shot controlled will certainly be an aid to you in your quest... What a committment

Wow! This is getting really cool...

I almost don't know what to say.

Elvicash and Mr. Bond, I am going to try my hardest to stay with this all the way. Your generosity is inspiring, and I will surely owe my game's improvement to the both of you pushing me to continue.

You've made ROaD more than what it began as, and also made it way more fun. Every time I hang the eight or nine, I will grin and try to remember your commitments.

Expect more soon...

Robert, in that area Larry Gail is a great guy to learn from.... Not sure how he's still swinging it but I'm positive his mind is still intact.... He'll play you 5-10 a game or 20 dollar sets..... Give you a fair game and coach you throughout session.... I'm dead serious.... Well, he'd do that for me anyway and others in the past... He'd give me the 7 when he was playing well... I'd prob when 1 of 4 sets but best money I ever spent.... I had disposable income at the time...

He's another great guy in the pool room... They come very few and far in between... Especially at this guy's speed and knowledge... Talk to him sometime, you won't regret it bro...

Keep it rolling, BOL...

I know well of Larry, and you are right. I could listen to him talk pool for hours. Since I explained GTP to him he's taken to calling me 'Prez.' :) It's high praise coming from such a great guy, and I feel lucky to be in his orbit.

Jacksonville really has a great wealth of pool players, and I feel moving back here to take it all in was a fortunate turn in my life.

After hearing of the pledges made by Mr. Bond and elvicash my mother has decided to match theirs with $100 herself.

Mom has always been supportive of my playing pool, but I didn't expect her to be so enthusiastic about my plans to play literally every day for a year. Maybe she doesn't mind so much because I was pretty much doing this anyway, only now it'll at least in part be for a good cause.

Anyway, that makes it just over $0.82 per rack.

Thanks again to all and expect more soon...

If you will PM me your address I'll drop a new Accu-Rack 9ball template into the mail for you Monday...

They are a different material and different geometry than the Magic Rack and they break more like a real rack because there is no skip and slide over the plastic...

They were made to mimic the friction the cloth provides... You have to break them good to get your reward and they will teach you about speed, english and angle of impact... Just like a regular rack would if you could consistently and quickly get everything frozen....

The best part is even if you get a worn out set of balls you can still freeze them... You'll find out with old balls that is sometimes not possible on the MBR.....

I'll try it out for sure. I know that I won't be going back to traditional racks, but I like the idea of testing out a few of these new ones to see which I prefer over the others.

The one in the last few videos isn't an MBR, but one custom made at the room by a local who has done a pretty impressive job at least with mine.

I'll probably alternate each week between current one and yours, beginning when yours gets here.

PM sent, and thank you for the support.

I've competed Day 8 of the ROaD YouTube challenge that I began a little over a week ago. (link below)

Today's run out came just before a charity tournament held for the Robert Galentine Trauma Fund. The event drew forty players, and altogether was a great success. Robert suffered a severe accident on his motorcycle not too long ago, and he has a long road to recovery ahead of him.

Robert had recently put a lot of work into repairing damages to my vehicle after I was involved in an accident myself. He did great work. I wish him and his family the best in this difficult time ahead.

Day 9 is done. It took the longest yet, around 2 hours. I think I was tired, but I expect this won't be the longest I have to try.

Day 9:
http://youtu.be/N4keg1WuA5c

One can tell this one took you a while: a virtual cosmo, yet you're making absolutely sure of your position play (as you should). The result is a picture-perfect run-out. You're already improving! Your effort should pay off dividends, you'll see.

Greetings from Switzerland, David.

I will be attempting to break and run out a rack of 9-ball at least once each day for a year.

As irrationally optimistic as that sounds, I'm also going to upload the videos to YouTube, and do all my own camera work. I don't think I yet know how hard this will be to accomplish.

I've got two days worth completed(links below), which leaves 363 days to go.

Wish me luck, or even better join in the challenge. I could use the company as motivation.

you doing this like you're playing casper or are you going to play it as it lays after the break?

hay man i'm pulling for you!!!!! this is an awesome goal. i wish i could do the same. i'd try it too but digital camera's are expensive.

Not taking ball in hand...

I'm playing it where it lays after the break. A sub-goal of the whole thing is to improve my cue ball control on the break shot. Another is improving my patience, especially when the balls aren't rolling my way.

And you're right, cameras are expensive. (Thanks, Grandma!)

Nice drill man. I once had an idea similar to this just I was thinking of raising the number of break&runs every month and should be equal with number of the month ( ex. JULY is number 7 so the goal should be to 7 br's until the end of the month ).
This fun games will improve your ability to b&r for sure. Looking forward to hear from you.

Here's Day 11. I completed this day's runout in memory of Martin Reed and his son Brendan. We lost them way too soon, and they will be missed dearly. Martin was the owner of Park Avenue Billiards in Orange Park, FL. Today's runout came on one of their tables as many others have, and many more will also.
