Quick rundown...

Unknown cue, faux Mottey Signature... traded for another cue for charity.. charity home run donation, this cue new shafts, inlays and restoration by Steve Klein...

Cue has new inlays, great two strand wrap of white with red spec / white with blue spec at 180 apart for the red/white and blue wrap effect. Teo new shafts with 3/4" ferrules, Szam taper and 5 layer tips.

Of all the small nuances with the cue, the butt was laser straight. NOw its a great looking cue... Normally we would not advocate the inlaying of someone elses work by a different maker. We exhausted all the possibilities of finding the maker and no one came forward. Shame really, cue build was really well done, at least the butt.

The most important thing is the cue will never be misrepresented as a Mottey again.

The cue looks great........ how does it hit compared to one of the shafts I used it with that I thought played great.......

And patriotic.

And has the right kind of joint configuration....... :grin:

Wow! Not just a copy of a Mottey - but a copy of MY 1991 Mottey!

Well, the real deal has ivory 'boti stitch rings at C-D-E, but other that that it looks great!

The Points are fantastic - hard to tell the difference.

Didn't realize I was in the Gallery - sweet cue!

Well, i still think it's a Mottey.......:)

Turned out great, Joe. Kudos to Steve for some beautiful work. Diamonds look like they were harvested from a Bushka.

I still think so to. I think the back end and joint were screwed with and now not even Paul can tell its his. I have another cue from the Mottey shop and it has the white inside veneer and it looks similar.

Maybe Rett will post pics of his cue.

It would have been more patriotic, we were going to use MOP stars but they were to big to achieve what we wanted to do in the points.

So we used one of my favorite old time patterns, with Steves hand cut diamonds. It retains the traditional feel.

The 3/4 melamine ferrules definately hit harder than the 1 - 1 1/4 ivory "standard" ferrule.

Personally, I think you made a wise decision. You can never go wrong with notched diamonds and dots.

In the past, I didn't really have an opinion about red/white/blue veneer cues...but this one just has that special 'something' about it. Steve did a great job on the cue...and it looks outstanding.
