I have so many shafts laying around, I just want to group them together and gain the storage room.
These are 3/8 x 10 thread shafts. The shaft on the left came with a D-11, not sure if the shaft is for a Mcdermott D-11, but, it came to me with one. The second cue from the left has a piece of wood missing right from the bottom of the ferrule, like if you took half a tooth pick out of it. The others are good. All of the shafts roll good enough to be a shooter. All of the may not be perfect, but have a little roll off in the taper area. Anything I thought I had that would be questionable, I threw away. These six are already packaged and ready to ship in a Priority Mail container as it will be shipped insured with tracking number.

Based on your post, these are for the 3/8 x 10 mcdermott/standard pins.

Would it require a little modification to fit on a 3/8 x 10 Modified (SW styel) big pin?

Thanks!

Will,
I honestly can not answer your question. Possibly someone might be able to answer it here or this might be a question you may have to post in the "ask the cue maker" section. I'm sorry I can't give you the information. I do believe that the two somewhat newer cue shafts pictured fit easier on the new Mcdermott cues. They went on a brand new G 206 pretty easy and were tighter when put on an older wolf cue I have that has been laying around for some time.

From what I have read, a shaft made for a standard 3/8x10 pin has to be "redone" to be used with a 3/8x10 modified. They'd all work with the modification, but I have no idea how much that would run..

Update on the modified pin: Dzuricky has all the info on the pin and the shafts. According to the link that I'll add after this, most standard 3/8x10 shafts can accommodate the modified pin with no alteration. It all depends on what bore size was used prior to tapping the threads. even if a tighter bore was used originally, all that would need to be done, would be to have the bore widened a few thousandths. As DZ says, a matter of a few seconds by a cue maker. Here's the link;

A 3/8-10 butt will not screw together with a 3/8-11 shaft and vice versa.

Either the pin will have to be replaced in the butt or the shaft will have to be plugged, bored, and re-tapped.

Easier to go from 3/8-11 to 3/8-10. I can do that for you as well as any other competent cuesmith.

FYI

Gary

The information given about 3/8-10 standard and modified is correct. The shaft will have to have the minor diameter enlarged to fit the 3/8-10 modified pin, but a standard 3/8-10 will still fit just fine.
