Appleton/Lee Brett Issues

Long story short according to Darren, is that he had let Lee use quotes from him to help him sell books/vids because Brett was down on his luck financially. But Darren said he was never helped or used any of Lee's teachings.
Lee was saying that night how much he helped Darren and that darren would never have won the US Open etc without him and Darren replied that wasnt the case. Words got heated and thus the fight ensued.
Darren admitted later that he lost his cool and shouldnt have been involved.
Darren was cheerful and joking the next day and took it all in stride. Was actually at Qmasters last night and he was in good spirits with the other UK boys
 
I believe Darren is right, a lot of pool players write instructional books and get their good friends to write good reviews on it. Maybe if a world champion came forth and said Lee had helped their game who wasnt Lee's friend i might believe him. I have played Lee in Reno @ the us open bar table event. a friend of mine told me that Lee thinks hes a great player but isnt that good. I proceeded to beat Lee. regardless of his skill level this doesnt mean he is not a great instructor but i can tell you that his table demeanor was horrible he was cursing and kept hitting the table when he would miss balls. That said he still beat ralf souquet 11-10 in the us open so he has to know something.
 
Yes I agree. Saw Lee in action and he does not have a great table temperament.
I saw online he lost to SVB 9-0 and didnt cash in any of the pro or amateur events in Louisiana. And Souquet posted online he played terribly to lose.
Shane VB and Appleton both said they dont use his techniques and were just trying to help him. But, I have heard alot of good players say that they did benefit from some of the advice he gave. So he likely could be a good teacher.
Good players dont always equate to good teachers. And good teachers dont always equate to being a good player.

But no need to punch anyone about it.Lol

They were definitely talking sh1t to each other about this but I also heard about another reason Darren was mad at Lee.
 
I'm still trying to keep up.

First you hated them because they're British.

Then you hated Darren.

Then you made fun of Darren.

Now it's time to make fun of Lee.

Do you guys ever get confused about who you're mad at from one minute to the next, or is there a hidden teleprompter app for this site I'm not aware of?

This is why I have a personal policy of being mad at everyone all the time.
 
Long story short, you had a couple grown men that had too much to drink and they ended up acting like a couple silly kids.

I'm sure they both regret what happened and I think they should just man-up and apologize to each other, the Q-Masters staff, and the other people present for the way they acted.

Life is too short for that stuff man, can't we all just get along? :)
 
Ummm.... Pent up hostility and an early exit spilled over - due to Lee possibly being a little too friendly with Angie. Boys being boys...

I wanted to come out this year but couldn't make it. Naturally its the year Shane wins and the Brits go full retard.

Lee is always nice when I see him. I like the part of your post about us just getting along. If more people would do that there would be far less problems. Good post. If I can't say anything good about anybody, I will surely not say anything Bad about them!

A few years ago i told him to change his grip, and what to do. He then used a gravity cue and it showed what i was telling him, ask JR Calvert what Darren said at derby city.

He attacked me i defended myself, so where in the wrong am i here? the way i acted, some people are unreal. Any human being would protect themselves.

I have not spoken to Angie in over 11 months, so you are way off the mark here, and anytime i did speak to her was in a friendly way, not how you intend.

Justin you are right it is Shane's year and all they do is talk about this, you should rephrase to Brit not Brits.


For the record people, i'm a fraud and don't know how to play or teach now get a life and stop chatting *#it on here it's getting old.

Agreed. If you read my earlier post you'll see that I stated Darren threw the first punch.
