SVB is the only player who has won the Derby all around and the US Open 9 ball in the same year. Then the year before SVB won the Derby all around and the US Open 10 ball. Wow what a series of great accomplishments to the greatest all around player I have ever seen play pool.

He also won Valley Forge aka Super Billiards Expo pro event this year 2012 and he won at Emerald Billiards the weekend before and just took 2nd ant the ESPN Champion of Champions

2nd at JAC too.

Don't forget a few weekends ago he was 2nd at the Johnny Archer Classic...

Shane is awesome, no one can question that.

I don't however see why anyone would believe he could beat Efren in an all around if both players were in their prime. The more games you include, the more Efren would be favored. Efren is almost 60 as far as I know and he still plays some games better than Shane.

If you played every pool/billiard game known to man on it's respective sized table I would imagine Efren would even be the favorite today. I mean EVERY game not a 5 game all around.

have you not seen efren play for the last 20 years.
Shane is great but the best all around player of all time is EFREN

We can all speculate but I will put my 2 cents in also

Willie is the best all around player of all time. Since Willie passed Efren has been the best hands down. Shane cannot beat Efren, say they play 8,9,10 ball, one pocket and straight pool. Shane wouldn't come out the winner even at Efren's age of 59. Shane is a world class player and I love to watch him play, but if you talking all around its Efren. Would have loved to see Willie and Efren play them 5 games, both in their primes.

9 ball and 10 ball Shane has Efren beat, 1 pocket, 8 ball, and straight pool is a toss up, banks and 15 ball rotation Efren has him.

SVB can Play!!

We know SVB can really play, class and style to boot..., He might be the best all around one day, but not yet.

Efren is and will be for a long time, Willie would have no chance at One Pocket, Banks or 8 Ball!

King Efren still lives!

One must also remember SVB has won lots of big tournaments on a bar table. Can you imagine how many people would like to step up and try him at that game. He is most likely the best at any game on a bar box IMO.

I would like to see SVB win a big tournament in Asia first before I can even attempt to compare him with Efren. I personally really like SVB as a player and as a person and no doubt he's one of the best players in the world in rotation games. However, you have to also consider that other top pros in the world have won titles all across the world, not just in the country they live in.

With that said, I know SVB tries to travel all across the world to compete. With his game and attitude, it won't be long before he starts to become dominant in the international scene as well.

Hard to try to dominate over seas when they cancel major events. Been like 3 or 4 cancelled this year already. I imagine it takes time and money to fit the tournys in SVB schedule then they cancel. At least over here in America they havnt been cancelling any major events lately.

There are big events happening in China and Qatar, all with purses around the same or much bigger than the US open. I do know that the World 10 Ball championship is cancelled, which other ones do you know have been cancelled?

WPC 9 Ball paid 40k to first
China Open paid 40k to first
World 8 Ball paid 20k to first

Unbelievable performance at US Open final, if Accu-Stat keep their rating he would have gotten a 1.00 or 0.9999

Flawless, break, potting, positioning, kicks, safes, un matched or close to any i have seen in last 30 years. Go SVB.

But you are right, the tournaments here are much more consistent. However, my point is that the tournaments in Asia are going to have a much stronger field, and before he is able to get out of his comfort zone and win there, I wouldn't put him on the same page as Efren just yet.. even Dennis in 9/10ball.

And don't them same ''top pro's'' compete in the US Open as well as the Derby City Classic? if not, what's stopping them from playing over here?

Not quite, there are still some Filipino and Taiwanese players that are world beaters as well. What's stopping them is probably the travel cost and at least for the Taiwanese players the language barrier.

Weak excuse, money spends the same in ANY language, if you're good enough to take the win, No cheaper for Shane to go there, and he only speaks English:rolleyes:
