Ivorine on McD

I had a McD in the other day for a tip and noticed it had an ivorine ferule. I wouldn't have thought anything about this other than when I removed the old tip I saw the tennon was not centered. I don't believe McD would have that much run out yet when I asked the owners they swear it hasn't been changed. I guess my first question is does McD sometimes use ivorine? And my second question is do production cues commonly have issues like this that? Finally should i have replaced the tennon and ferrule?

Thanks

Ferrule is threaded on so it will look that way (plane through helix gives that illusion).

McD used to use ivorene. Not sure if they still do.

Ivorene III is one of the finest (if not the finest) ferrule material ever. Ivorene IV..............not so much.

Yes they used Ivorine 3 and and the reason it looks off center is the 3/8-10 thread that goes all the way through. You are just looking at the thread disappearing on one side making it look like it was off center.

+1 on the Ivorene III - wish they had pressed for 'cleaner' material.

The older Ivorine 3 I have is cleaner material.

Yes, as is all the Iv3 I have. Emphasis on the word "older".

There was a long period where Atlas got tons of complaints about
dirty black specs, deservedly so, often not showing up till the ferrule
was turned down.

IIUC - the manufacturer's attitude was more or less - 'that's how it is,
take it or leave it'.

From what I've gathered, rods are made better than tubes somehow.
It's true for norplex melamine today.
The rods do not show pitting as much as the tubes.
Problem is them suckers are frkn hard and making ferrules from rods sure dulls drill bits fast.

3:27 shows how McD threads their ferrule tenon.
