Matte finish

I have a break cue that I would like to add a matte finish from the finish on the shaft to 6 inches below the joint on the butt. Does that require a complete refinish?

Just wet sand with 1000 grit and buff it to your liking.

The last one I did, I wet sanded it with 1000 grit and then just waxed it. The owner loved it.

you could try a wet magic eraser to the finish of the shaft as it spins slowly on a lathe, re-wet if the magic eraser dries before it is matte enough. But also be careful, if you dont know when to stop, you could remove the finish off the wood.

I thought you were supposed to apply several coats of tung oil...to prevent moisture and dirt from entering the pores...???

But, I guess if your not taking off all of the clear coat...that's all good...


What are your thoughts...???
