I want smoking to continue to be allowed inside of the tournament building.

I want smoking banned inside of the tournament building.

I don’t mind smoking outside of the tournament building during competition.

I want smoking banned at the tournament tables.

I want to smoke anytime and anywhere I please.

I want smoking BANNED inside of the tournament building.

BANNED is awfully strong. I don't want smoking inside the building, but I don't like forcing people to do what I want. That's a little pushy for me.

I don't like the word BANNED either. However, I didn't want there to be any gray area. I guess I could have used the word ELIMINATED but the deed is done. :frown:

It's just common courtesy for smokers to go outside to smoke in any public setting.

Smokers, you do not have right to inflict the unpleasant, harmful effects of your habit on other people. I don't know why this is still an issue today.

Don't even try the argument of "If you don't like it go somewhere else", it doesn't fly. A pool hall (or any other place open to the public) is not a private club for smokers.

Well, I can agree with, "I don't mind smoking outside...". I live in a place where it can get to -45C in the winter and I smoke outside. I actually hate the habit too, but it seems to be a wee bit addictive and hard to quit.

For me, I don't want to force my bad habits on others. I made that choice, not you. I just don't like pushy people so the *anti*-smoking (not non-smoking) crowd tends to grind my gears a bit.

Joey, could you post more often in big, blue letters?
I'm having trouble reading my screen....because of the smoke.

...and congrats for employing the word 'banned' properly....
..smoking can be 'banned'
...smokers can be 'barred'

I voted 'take it outside' btw
I don't smoke where I live...or where anybody else lives.
Smells are particulate..that odor is actually particles entering your system.

..on the other hand, I've had friends roll down their window in a parking lot
to tell me how bad smoking is for me...I tend to tell them..your car is idling
..did you ever hear of someone committing suicide by closing the garage
doors and lighting a cigarette?

For decades there was never a problem with smoking at poolrooms, non- smokers in RECENT years have been getting their way setting new rules.
Truthfully Smokers shouldn't even entertain non smokers with discussion about it. Everyone knows non smokers will get their way. No offense but I for one am sick of the BS. If a room owner wants there to be smoking at their room then non smokers should go some where else instead of *****ing. Non smokers are hell bent for the most part to control someone else's place of business. Open your own poolroom and when I go there I won't ***** about not being able to smoke. Do us the same favor . This poll is just a place for non smokers to *****. Don't believe it then watch who does most the posting . Even on the smokers poll. Joey was going to do 2 different polls I thought but what's the purpose. Non smokers will post like hell on both

No smoke in Oregon bars a few years now. Very nice! X-smoker here too, but always thought it respectful to do outside even when it was still legal. Thanks for chance to share opinion!

I voted, "I don’t mind smoking OUTSIDE of the tournament building during competition" even though I'm not and never have been a smoker.

Reason: I took to understand the phraseology to mean "I don't mind the practice of smoking OUTSIDE of the tournament building during competition," because what people do with their lives is their business, as long as the results of their bad habits aren't foisted upon me. (I.e. they go outside to smoke, instead of polluting communal air in that public space, and not force a certain demographic of people to have to make the decision to not enter tournament they'd otherwise want to play in, because of polluted air.)

I'm a puffer..no biggie what other think of my habit.
I have no problem going out side to smoke,I have never
smoked in my own home,an don't allow smoking in my home.
What I have issues with..is non-smokers coming in to the smoking
area an complaining..its a heated area, with a nice flat screen some
video game.bar stools an tables..in the summer its a cool place to sit
with friend to light up an have few..the comes the non-smokes
with their coughing an hacking..an complaining about not have
a nice place to sit out side...boo hoo I say..go back inside an enjoy
the ac..any way..most of the time I smoked out side any ways, yes
smoking is a nasty, smelly habit..I don't care for the stinch either.

I like this post, Sean.
Common courtesy would solve many problems, instead of legislation.

My favorite Chinese thinker, Lao Tzu, said...
'The more laws, the more criminals."

Banned, stopped, against the law, call it what you will. It is my humble opinion that smoking should be prohibited throughout the known world, the neighboring planets, and the upper side of lower Manhattan. It is a scourge on society. It is ruinacious to the health, causes bad breath, and stains the teeth. If it were up to me, cigarettes would cost fifteen dollars a pack.
Whew...I feel lots better, now. Thanks.

It should be up to the owner of any establishment to decide on smoking. Not you or the goverment, you have no right to demand that. If the owner decides to allow smoking and non smokers chose not to frequent the establishment, it will either hurt his business enough to where he makes changes or it won't. It should still be their decision.

And yes, if you don't like it go somewhere else. Who are you to tell a person who has worked and spent/invested tens of thousands or more dollars in their establishmen,t that it should be a non-smoking establishment? or a smoking establishment for that matter.

I am a smoker but I do not mind going outside to smoke at all, I do the same thing at home. However, I do not think anyone has the right to tell me that I cant do as I choose with my hard earned dollars. If I want to smoke away from other people or in desinated areas that is my choice not yours. For those of you that think smoking should be outlawed, I propose we do the same with alcohol, we know it is bad for your health, just like smoking it kills those who choose not to partake in the habit, it stinks, it too is a particulate that gets on your clothes and other personal effects, it gives you bad breath, and above all else unlike smoking it can make those who indulge in the habit an asshole.

So am I going to be able to go outside to take a puff every other shot or after your done will you come get me? Maybe some of those little vibrator thingys like at the restaurant. Or are you going to tell me when I can smoke too?

Best thing I ever did was quit smoking. It will be 5 years come this February.

My partner still smokes, but he does not do so in my presence. He smokes outside on the porch. I can still smell it, though, when he walks in.

Ex-smokers are the worst when it comes to tolerance of smoking. I really can't stand the smell anymore, and when I see people smoking outside, there's a little part of me inside that kind of feels sorry for them, as I view them as addicts.

It was one of the best decisions I ever made in my life to quit.

The smoking outside the building needs modification.

It's annoying when someone has to walk through 40 smokers gathered around the entrance of a tournament, when they are all basically blowing it in your face.
Give these guys a back door to the outside or something, so non smokers don't have to walk through that crap.

I am not a smoker but...

I am not a smoker, but i feel they have the right to smoke.
I feel it is wrong to ban something because it is the new train to jump on.
That being said I feel you should clean up after yourself and not blow soke in my face too. I hate when smokes leave there ashs and butts for others to clean up after.

Add filters and fans in a biulding if the building wants to. Let your feeling be heard but dont force them on others.:grin-square:

as a x chain smoker

smoking and 2nd hand smoke is a health issue.
smoking outside or have a place for the smokers.
