People like you describe have absolutely no desire to participate in a forum such as AZ. It's not important to them to learn how to improve, which is the reason the majority of the members here are here at all. They have no desire to know the history of the game or anything else about it. What reason
would they have to be here? We all know tons of people like that.

I would be one of the people I described. I don't have the motivation to go pro and become a national champ, and I don't really have that much desire to analyze historically important players and matches. However, saying that I don't want to improve in my own way would be a great lie. I'm pretty sure I'm not just a statistical error, and there should be many people like me who'd enjoy participating in bar pool conversations and debates.
Tim just has teen angst issues, he argues about everything. You get used to it.
Guess I'll just have to live with it...
I fully admit, I made a grammar error and forgot the comma between the two. In my defense, I had a redhead on the phone.
It's obvious you're PoolKiller, but I suppose you might not want the mods to know that (although I imagine they already do).
God, do we really have to go through this again? Why do you people keep calling me Poolkiller? Anyway, I've been here for over a month, and I still have no problems with the mods, so you can calm down. I'm not that man.
There is no "bar strategy", other than drinking beer.
I need to say you're very wrong about this. You're thinking only about the drunk bangers but you ignore the rest of us casual/bar players. I already said we like to take our game seriously, just the rules, the approach and the skills are different. I can teach you some bar strategies if you want
I like that analogy.^
Or getting people who play bar rules to actually discuss their feelings on
the subject....would be like herding cats.
Nah. Sure you can't really compare some bar rule sets which require BiH and "call everything" to a system like the one I use (no BiH, no calling, no need to hit the rail, 8 Ball in the pocket where you dropped your last ball etc.). However, there are literally thousands bar rules variations, and many of them are quite comparable. It definitely wouldn't be like "herding cats".
Herding cats is easy. Getting PK to realize he's not a leader representing millions of casual players out there however, is not.
I hope post #1000 isn't in this thread...
I don't know about your post #1000... but these poolkiller jokes are truly becoming annoying.
You talk about "bar strategy" but in regards to what game? All your threads/posts speak in such general terms that it's difficult for us to answer them. I'm beginning to agree, sounds more like PK all the time:wink:
I've known many, many bar room players but have never even heard of any who discuss or even want to discuss the things you post about.
In my post above I was referring to 8 Ball as the most frequent bar pool variant, but this also applies to bar versions of any game variant. But for the sake of the thread, let's concentrate on 8 Ball.
I'm not gonna repeat that people WOULD like to discuss some of the things I mentioned. And I apologize if I sound like PK
You don't have to agree, though you did contradict yourself up there. Why don't you put together a focus group or advertise for a "bar pool discussion" group at the local community college. You know why.. nobody you'd expect to partake really cares.
What would be the point of having a serious discussion with somebody about something they're not very knowledgable of? I've seen a little palaver like that and it's not going anywhere.
I'm with PT and Ghosst.. may as well be herding cats! I wonder if there's a bar style of doing that, too..
Sry I don't really see where the contradiction is. Considering your comment, you're not really a bar lover.
What do you expect to get out of this and why are you here in the first place?
And, don't tell me you answered above because that's way too vague. Let me give you an example of my own experience. When I moved from New York State to South Carolina I ran into something I wasn't familiar with. People who went to bars to play pool. Back in NY at that time people went to bars to drink and playing pool was secondary, at best. The bar players I met in SC, at least the ones I knew, were just like the majority of AZ members and would come here for the same reasons. The people you describe don't care enough about pool to participate in something like this. They don't have enough to say on the subject to warrant a forum section. They just don't care.
I wasn't referring to the population that doesn't care. I was talking about the population that DOES care. Where I live people often go to bars to play pool even without having a drink. We're used to that. I like to mix those two up lately, but I'm unable to count how many times I went to a bar just for a match.
yeah it would be nice to not have the front page of the main forum full of threads called "how do I get more draw" or "what cues produce the most english" ha ha. I've always thought it would be a good idea to give them their own section.
I wasn't really thinking about that, but it would surely be a good bonus
