Lambros Low Deflection Shaft (LD)

I have both and the Lambros plays just as well as the 314/2 for me. It seems to hit harder and has a sound hitting the ball much more like a conventional shaft. The one I have is a flat lamination layered shaft and I'm considering buying another one. I have great respect for Lambros. They are true craftsmen. Price is about the same as the 314/2.

I've let other players hit with both and they usually remark "How do you ever miss?"

I hit some balls with one about two weeks ago and liked it. (I am not an LD shaft guy) It felt good, feedback was excellent, and deflection was very low with extreme spin. I would not hesitate to recommend one.

Great shaft, low ld of course but still feels like solid shafts. Very nice quality.
If you can do buy a cue from him - great quality and the play is fantastic.

I'm a huge 314 FIRST GEN fanatic. I also have 314-2's.
I had a Lambros Ultra joint cue, and one of his ultra LD shafts by Lambros.
The Lambros LD hit much better than the 314-2...
But not as solid as the 1st gen 314.
It had a fair bit of deflection for an LD shaft, as you would expect from an LD that has a decent hit. Seems like the lower the deflection...the worse the hit. I've not seen anyone beat this rule yet.
Here is my advice...The shafts that come with the cue are SO LOW IN DEFLECTION and hit SO FRICKEN GOOD, that I can't see the point in compromising the hit for just A LITTLE less deflection. Stick with the original shafts that came with the cue, Lambros is a genius, how he builds a cue to hit that good and have such low deflection...
Yes, the ld shaft hits pretty good, but you will lose that hit you probably love from that cue. You know...that sweet "ping" sound that cue makes when you put some mustard into the cue ball:cool:

has anybody used one? How did it stack up against the 314 shaft?
The Ultra shaft isn't even close to the 314 as far as deflection goes.
If I had to play with a Lambros ,it would be with his normal shafts which
hits much better than his LD and feels better as well.

SS360 shaft

The only shaft that has the LD qualities as well as a very very solid hit is the SS360 shaft from Bob Danielson .
I had one made at 12mm and it has the same low deflection as the Z2 i had before .
I've been searching more than 6 months for the right LD and tried almost all of them but nothing comes even close to the performance of the SS360 .

I honestly went back to my regular lambros shaft and it hits just as good as the ld. I honestly think the lambros hit is all about the ultra joint...it's like nothing else on the market.

I like mine so far and I shot with a 314 for 6 years.
Mike Lambros flat out makes great cues!
Watch the cue gallery next week for pictures my new lambros, I think you will like it.
I love this cue

Lambros cues

Well I have not been a genie in the "posting pic department" but I have managed a couple of times now and obviously are getting better and better, having a mac that cut the size by automatic helps also:-).
Anyway, I have 4 Lambros cues and sold 6 I believe it is now. All great players and the quality has been top notch. My playing Lambros I tweaked a bit with Mike though, got it a bit more forward balanced and a tiny bit slimmer in the handle (than Mikes usual setup that is, mine are close to 19,5 in bp and I think 1.250 in handle. I also use his solid maple shafts at 12,75mm - this cue is for me a "monster hitter":-).
The LD shafts I have tried but for me my cue hit´s so straight anyway and I seem to favor the hit with the solid shafts, nothing wrong though with the LD shafts, great shafts, probably a bit more "harder" feel to them. With Mike´s cues I feel exactly what I want - to have a cue that can take whatever I give it, some cues just don´t have it and you have to avoid some types of shots. I can hit it soft, hard, english it doesn´t matter it will act the same if you get me. Here we go - I hope it will work...:-).

#&#%#&%#&#&%& arghhhhh - and now it didn´t. I just don´t get this, I´m doing the same but?!?!?! Well I have to learn a different way because when it works I can only put one pic at a time it seems. So any kind of help I will be grateful to have:-).

Btw, I have many cues and I always shoot with them - trying out different types, always makes sure to try the ones I sell before I let them go to make sure that they are solid etc. I´m a real cuenerd but over the years I have learnt a lot and can now more easily describe the specifics I want in a cue to a cuemaker. I can shoot with any cue but I truly believe that a cue to my liking helps me, it will give you the "edge".

The taste in playability, feel and looks differ a lot from person to person of course.
Mike´s cues however I can strongly recommend to anybody, they have the "hit" in every aspect. From other makers I tend to like them "stronger" to "hold" (consistent) up when I shoot but Mike´s is special - something to do with the construction and most probably his joint, without being the stiffest they are "supersolid" - like I said - they can take whatever you give them and still keep in track.
But I have cues from other makers that can do that to - of course, right now I´m playing mostly with one of my DZ cue and a Dayton - great cues also. And as the cuenerd I am I have several more to come from different makers that I think will be "monsterhitters" also. I´m thinning out my collection otherwise since I have moved on to different looks and the "play" in some cues is not to my liking, nor the quality.

I truly hope this venture will never cease to stop because I´m having a blast learning new things about the play, the making etc and also talking with some real nice guys, makers and players. There is always something new to learn:).
With all the information I get/got/learnt of course helps me also to help my friends finding a cue that they like, and I´m also passing along some of the knowledge that I have learnt over the years (to those who want of course) so they can really appreciate all of the hard work a good cuemaker has done to make the cue they love.
For me a good cue also has a lot to do with the maker, the really nice guys that are sharing knowledge are straight talkers, keeping the time or at least give me some progress info - the time thing is not what all the cuemakers are best in sort of speak:wink:, but I know this and as long as they give me some info during the time it´s ok, life is life and things happens.
Some makers though are faster (then they stated when at time of order) or at time - all of the time and they get a extra star in my book:). I have a couple of cues that play real nice but I don´t pick them up anymore because the overall experience was not up to par - a cue has to have "good vibes" in them:).

Well this went to be a long post, guess I had something on my chest:-).

Take care you all and please give me steer in right direction about the pics. And if someone is williing to help me get some pics up, please pm me your email adress and I will mail them out.
