Actually there are 2 clipping from before the first Open on the wall at Qmasters for 74 and 75??? Maybe just 75... I cannot recall what they referred to the tournament as but they are on the far wall from the bleachers maybe 1/3 way from the left side if anyone in the area thinks to look =)

If I remember correctly--there was a year at the end of the 70's or it was 1980 that they didn't have the tourny--there was an event in Sacromento all away across the country that was going on with all the top players of the day there and they (amongst themselves) called it the US Open because the other event didn't take place.
