Reminds me of the finals of the B.C. Open in 1985 between Keith and Lebron (yep, same guy). First paid 25K and second paid 10. Lebron asked Keith to make a deal, save 5,000. Keith came back with, "Let's just play for the whole thing!" Effectively match over at that point. Keith won easily 9-3. Yeah, I was in then too! :thumbup:

I feel like I'm pretty good for only playing for a short amount of time but doubt I'll ever go anywhere with pool.

But if you ever want to have a ref take your position I'm all yours to coach :cool:

I'd love your job. I'd be a pro. Sort of. :thumbup:

I dont think Earl will truly ever be appreciated until he is not with us anymore say what you will about the guy but he truly wants to win he is the same way on the golf course guy wants to win so bad. Those that knew Mosconi knew he was a colossal ***** but he wanted to be the best at what he did.

I was actually Keith's backer in the B.C. Open. You want to learn to ref, meet me at DCC next month.
 
I don't know about anyone else, but finding this out really makes me lose a lot of respect for these players.

The sheer number of praise these guys get- Varner, Hall, Rempe, Sigel, etc. makes me kind of sick knowing we have "Champions" in our sport dumping in major tournaments for personal gain, and supposively these are some of Pool's finest?

You think that just because these people are the finest pool players of their generation, that makes them exempt from the vices and greed which infect almost all people?

I highly doubt that any of the names you mentioned were trained in morality and virtue. That doesn't mean that they are not outstanding people. Many people in society are willing to do things that they know are immoral in exchange for a large sum of money. It doesn't necessarily make them a bad person.
