You guys really make me think. And although I don't reply to your pm's as promised. I do take action on every suggestion (simply put my results have not been worth noting) but I do follow your guidance. I just wanted to report that I've worked very hard and as a result I managed to win 9 out of 11 matches. This is my first full season in the APA, and although it's been an inner fight, it's been awesome.

It's not easy to win, it's stressful, but I do enjoy it :-) . Many people in this forum are to be thanked. So THANK YOU again

9 wins & just 2 loses! I thought you were struggling. You just need to get were you can do it a bit more easily so that four letter word (work) becomes a three letter word (fun).

But believe it or not if it becomes too easy it won't be as fulfillling with the sense of accomplisment lessoned. I actually envy you. I wish I could go back & take that journey again.

9-2 is awesome, congrats.

Keep up the good work, and keep on making it fun, too. From your posts, it sure seems like you'll continue trying to improve. My bet is that you will be improving, although you need to guard against getting frustrated when it doesnt feel like its happening. With your attitude, you will be improving all the time, even when it doesn't seem so. You are clearly engaged in this pool adventure.

Continued good shooting, keep us updated, your enthusiasm is contagious!

What can I say I'm a hard A$$. All in all I have fun, I do work hard. But I enjoy every minute of it :)

I couldn't agree with you more. Currently we are with the APA and that darn Equalizer will not bump me up a notch. We can't figure out what I have to do, to move up to a Skill Level 3. During my last 4 matches (maybe more I can't recall) I've smoked 4's and 5's with a 17 to 3 point spread, 16 to 4, and 15 to 5. This tells me I'm putting down balls with a high success rate. My innings aren't great but I do play against people who are getting-good or are good at safeties and I work my safeties right back at them well too.

My coach's SL has been bumped up 4 times (automatically it seemed); he started as a 4. In just 15 matches he worked his way to an SL 8 and the Number 1 player in the league. This tells me that the machine is working-- Right!!! :confused:

I've played 18 matches and I'm still a two :embarrassed2: (9-Ball Lifetime Win Percentage: 74%):rolleyes: This includes my first session during the summer which I was a totally overwhelmed by the pressure I placed on myself.

During this fall I focused on getting better control of the cb after hitting the ob, needless to say it's been a game changer for me. I also worked on my kicks and banks, that almost always get me out a jam :thumbup2:

Next Season the hubs and I are going to be the new Team Captains:eek:

You are so right on all of it.

And just for the chuckle... As you already know I was Amp'd last night. It was our last match for the season and I wanted to score my 5 points to stay on the MVP and Top Gun list. But my team mates were all so bummed because we were short 2 players (we had 5 matches and 3 players). I kept score for my 2 other teammates with a lot of enthusiasm and the words that person needs to hear to help him/her win. And even though we had 2 forfeits we STILL WON the match 49-36. I think we're still in shock from last night.

JG,

Keep in mind where you're playing (APA). Some people WORK real hard to keep their handycap low(sandbagging) & would love to be rated as a two(2).

Bottom line is keep improving, enjoy the ride & let the cards fall where they may. You may the best "2" in the league, being the best "4" in the league is a little harder but I do not doubt that you will soon be there.

I started by joining an APA team about 8 years ago, then found this site about 7 years ago while looking for some information to help me with my game. One of these days I'll figure out what I'm doing. :confused:

JG & Banks,

Differing opinions are not always a bad thing. There is no one way or 'right' way to play this game very well. The thing to do about differing opinions is to take both sides to the table & figure out which works best for you at the current stage of your game that will allow you to advance. The 'other' opinion may pop up again or you can put it on hold & it might be a better fit for you latter on.
