Well.
I cant watch this year. But i would kill for it....
I hope for great thill and kill again.

But if i see how some us boys are bashing their own two players......thats really a shame. But ok; each to its own.

You dont make it easier for your rookies.

So the first two matches will be:

Nick van den Berg + Nick Ekonomopoulos vs Mike Dechaine + Brandon Shuff

Nick van den Berg vs Johnny Archer

If team Europe lose the double, the single will be tough for NvdB! This should have been anticipated by the coach, IMO.

Another good coaching move. NVB will be in stroke on the table playing two sets in a row. Also let's be real no one is playing archers speed right now out there, that's there best shot.

As most of the time, I like the way you see things mikey !

So the format here is pretty telling and today is definitely going to be strategic. Let's look at the scenarios.

Match 1 has to be Nickos and NVB Vs Shuff and Mike D. per the rules.

Match 2 has to be NVB Vs Archer per the rules.

So the last rule into play today is that ALL team members must play in the last 4 matches. In other words NVB and Archer are not eligible to play in last 3 matches.

So if you are team Europe, you have Nickos/Daz/Niels/Melling in the clip and USA has SVB/Hatch/Shuff/Dechaine in the tank.

There's gotta be one doubles match and 2 singles matches. I will exercise a guess at how this should play out. I think Melling and Nickos would make a power team and their games compliment each others. I think the USA will maintain their Veteran/Newbie pairings which has worked great. SVB has a sub 50% record in Mosconi Cup singles matches anyway and they are aware of that. So here's how I see matches for rest of the day.

Match 3 Nickos/Melling vs SVB/Shuff

Match 4 Daz Vs Dechaine

Match 5 Niels vs Hatch

Believe it or not, I think that is both teams' respective path to victory today.

Prediction today someone wins 4-1 instead of 3-2 on points.

***Note*** I think the biggest story of the day is Johnny Archer/Hatch/SVB can only play 1 time today while Shuff and Dechaine must play twice today. I look for that to be part of the story as the day plays out. That's a lot of pressure especially as this moves to crunch time. If someone is up 9-6 going into Day 4 which is all singles matches, it's pretty much over.

Let's keep an eye on the sitting team/player when the shooter is down on the shot, just to see if there is any "gamesmanship" or "sharking" going on. :grin-devilish:

For a little kindling for the fire: Where does "gamesmanship" end and "sharking" begin? Or, are they really much difference in the two?

The Mosconi Cup has gamesmanship played at a grand scale as far as the audience is concerned and players just have to get used to it I guess.

Does the same thing apply (get used to it) when sitting team is doing hand-flashes or when sitting players are vigorously wiping down their pool cues when their opponent is down on the shot?

I'm all for whatever is good for both teams and each player in this particular event. Just wondering about the tolerance level for "gamesmanship" & "sharking" for the players. For the sitting audience, it is pretty high and expected and I understand that well. The raucous, seated audience is an integral part of the success of the Mosconi Cup, imo.

Shuff and Mike D have to play twice? I REALLY want to see these young guns shine and snap off their matches on the big stage!

Shuff and Deshane both played much better on day 2. Deshane game out of the gate in day 1 shakey. He was jumping up causing misses on semi-routine shots. On day 2 he settled down and the early round jitters were gone. He played much better. He even said he had to go back to his fundamentals...I expect a good showing from both.. Today should be good..GO USA:smile:

Yesterday it started at 1pm cst.

Dechaine makes me nervous, It seemed like he was closed minded yesterday when playing partners with JA and not very open to doing things other than his way. That being said, I hope Dechaine and Shuff run them over today !!!!!!

Hi Joey,

Players who 'shark' will be 'sharked' big time by the Ultimate Pool God.

Best,
