Is there any way to get the same quality pool table lighting as fluorescent tubes from the three light rig type fixtures?

Perhaps some sort of specialty bulbs?

Try the compact fluorescent bulbs 100w ones will light up your table very well and will use way less power.

You could try 150 or 200 watt compact flourecents Daylight bulbs.
They do not draw as much electricity or have as much heat output as
standard bulbs..

One of the local poolhalls installed these (available at Costco 4 for $6), they made an noticeable improvement in the lighting.

This ! it made a huge difference on my table. Typically they take a minute or two to warm up though.

I use three of these above my 9' Diamond Pro Am... Home Depot n:Vision Bright White (3500k) bulbs.

They do a great job lighting up the tournament blue Simonis 860 cloth on my table. No shadows or dead zones. They each draw only 23W of power... so three together draw less power than one 75W incandescent bulb. And they last a long time.

Home Depot's sku # is 160-740.

I've used something like these for over 14 years and they work great. I needed to get an extension because without it the circular light would hit the smaller part of the cone shaped shade. Of course this was before they had the other type of florescent lights that replaced regular bulbs.

They come in many different wattage, I can't remember which I chose.
