Foot spot location?

If you're setting up new cloth, do you put the center of the foot spot sticker directly on the line?

Or do you put the top edge of the sticker on the line?

Or do you put the sticker on in such a way that the edge of the ball is just touching the imaginary line when it's spotted?

Just something I thought about the other day.

your question is a line short...

center of spot goes where the side to side line intersects with the line that would run center to center, lengthways.
 
Harbor freight sells saw lasers that can help zero in on the exact location.

Only one place for the spots to go, where the two lines intersect for the foot and head spot. it's that simple.
 
So, it's the center of the sticker, which would put the center of the ball at the intersection point, correct?

To answer the original question, if you're not going to play nine ball or eight ball on the table, it's better not to use a sticker. The rules of pool do not discuss the use of stick-on spots but the rules of billiards forbid their use. If you're not worried about getting a crater at the foot spot, it's better to use a pencil, sharpie or tailor's chalk to mark all the spots and lines.
