Vintage "It's George" god awful mess, i'm working on it

singular

i recently shopped garage sales in my local area.

i should have taken before pictures.

found an it's george , leather dry rotted, caps busted loose, missing stud ball bottom.
first thing i did was use penetrating oil on the leather exterior.
then i did that again a 2nd time along with minwax wood stain.
so far so good.

the interior was incrusted with chalk, so much that it was stiff with the stuff.
cleaned 3 or 4 times and i even used bleach, nothing, blue wouldn't budge.
so i used liquid shoe black, beautiful, why didn't i think of that sooner.

showing case after 4 applications of stain, few more treatments of stain and then a rub with burgundy creme and then a buff.

it's going to be awhile before the george resurfaces, but when it does, i think it's going to be alright.

It certainly looks good to me, I have retored a few cases myself and shoe polish works very well as a dye. I clean them before I apply the polish with a product called "LEXOL PH", it can be purchased at Tandy Leather. It is a great product that will soften stiff dried out Leather. I started using it to restore Leather Cue wraps, even those that were 50 or more years old turned out great.

Again it looks like a nice Job, thanks for sharing.

I did one recently. It will come out great, well worth the effort.

Here it is with my Fellini:

Luckily the interior on my was very nice.

FYI the plastic end caps can be polished out as well.
