It's been a while since I posted anything in the Gallery. I haven't been doing much with cues and cases since the economy tanked. I do still run across a cool cue or a case occasionally, and this is one of my latest finds I thought I'd share with you guys.
I heard about a local guy that was selling a couple of his dad's old cases. His dad was an old road player, so I thought I'd better go take a look (even though they seemed like they were on the opposite side of the state). I'm glad I did, as the seller told me some stories about his dad and then drug out these two old Fellini cases.
The ostrich pattern is in really nice shape. Great label and a tight old case.
The inverted diamond patterned case is very unique. At first, I thought it was a mismatched top, but the closer I look, the more it seems it was made with a darker top than body. The design is perfectly matched and there is still a darker diamond like the lighter side has, it's just more subtle in the darker background.
The case has really been used, but they used to be the top of the Fellini line and cost almost twice what a standard Fellini cost. It has a loose rivet in the latch, which works just fine when its lined up with the hole. I think I can probably get it fixed at a shop that does luggage repairs. One of the top segments has come off, but you can't hardly tell, as the wood underneath has been darkened and almost matches the leather.
It's nice to see these old cases around. I bet they could tell a story or two!
