I've been playing just pool for the past few months, turns out that masse is not that effective in 9 ball.WOW! comes from a trick-shot guy! I thought that you would be the one that masse it in before any other options would pop up in your head!

I played a game of 8 ball with a buddy of mine a couple of days ago. We were hill-hill. In the final game I broke and ran all of my balls but one and missed. He , in his turn, ran the table on me, but couldn't make the 8. I had one ball left before the 8. In the first picture I show the position that was left for me. What would you do in this situation?

In the second picture I am showing what I did in order to win the game.

LOLthe other shot you could do is to shoot the cue ball directly into the tit of the side pocket.
About one in a million times. The cueball will come straight back to the corner pocket.
No you don't.madmiller:
I don't have a table at home, so I practice masse shots on the floor. Someone gave me an old table cloth which I lay on the floor and practice.
No you don't.

I'm hitting it thin, going to the short rail, and locking on the ball....if you
play straight-rail a little, this is very doable.
It takes away the long rail kick...leaving him a reverse 4-railer or jump off
the close long rail.
I have made your masse shot, but I'll get the snooker far more often.
However, nice shot...if you feel good about this shot.....
...don't play it any other way.
Surely you weren't born yesterday but as "Willie Shakes" said:No you don't (practice masse shots on the floor).

Yeah, but that's not masses on an old table cloth laid on the floor. I'm pretty sure that's impossible.Surely you weren't born yesterday but as "Willie Shakes" said:
There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,I used to practice masse shots on the floor. It was in an Air Force barracks that had hard, polished linoleum tile floors. Lots of wax, so you could slide quite a ways if you were wearing socks but not shoes. Anyway, you can get some really amazing cue ball action with such equipment. The irregular loud thumps also really irritate the people on the floor below who are trying to sleep.
Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.
How much we're you gambling for when you chose the masse shot over the easy safety?

LOL I can relate to that, when I was working in Vegas earlier this year, I had 5 days in between jobs , so I stayed in this hotel.Surely you weren't born yesterday but as "Willie Shakes" said:

funny....I can do this about 9 out of 10 times
I have not done it in a while, but you're correct. It's at least a 50/50 shot once you've done it some. Probably more like 60/40.
Yes...I'm not saying I'd make that shot 9 out of 10 but I make the cueball come straight back 9 out of 10
