It's a barbox...everyone's game is elevated on one. Not to take away from James, he played amazing pool and that can't be denied. How many can say they beat Shane in a hot seat match for the cash?

If there was a rematch or if this was played on a 9' Diamond, my money is still on Shane.

Yeah, it would be cool to win a set against SVB, but...if I felt the need to brag about it...I would be inclined to qualify that it was a short race on a valley.

Race to seven on a barbox is not exactly the most in-depth test of pocket billiards skill. You can play perfectly and lose. Hell, you can spend the whole time in your seat and lose.

Shane had JUST come off winning the U.S. Open 9-ball Championship.

Have you ever participated in a tournament or league match where you just gave your absolute ALL to winning, won it and then had someone right afterwards want to play you some after you had already put your cues/equipment away? You're physically AND emotionally drained, and just can't seem to find it in you to want to compete again at that time.

Aside from the fact that James Davis Jr. was playing near-perfect pool that match, I have a feeling that Shane may have been experiencing somewhat of a physical/emotional letdown after giving so much of himself the weekend before.

Just a thought.

Maniac

Jr. won the flip.

First 7 games were BnR. 4-3 Jr.

SVB rubbed the 8 after cutting the 2 in and scratched.

now it's 5-3 Jr.

Then SVB made several kicking errors.

Jr. scratched on the break.

Jr. wins 7-5

Only really two mistakes in the entire match.

this thread...pfft

Sloppy pockets, small tables and short races benefits the weaker player.
Tighter pockets, bigger tables and longer races gives the weaker player
no shot to win.

In this video it was clearly the the top line.

Not true at all.
In this video, SVB made more mistakes, that is why he lost.

You should see Jr.'s Dad play...he plays great and is one of the most consistent players I've ever seen. Actually, if memory serves me correctly, Sr. beat SVB twice to win the Houston Open a few years ago. I'm not 100% on that though. Maybe some of the Texas guys on the forum can confirm?

That is correct.
And that was not bar box, for the fella above

Although on a bar box is an equalizer, Jr did play perfect pool and won the match against SVB, which is saying something.
I'm not going to lie to you guys, playing Shane would make me nervous, and I do believe that Shane came back and won that tournament.

I am still waiting for the day when I can beat Bastrop. Not sure if it will ever come though. He plays flawlessly vs me all the time. Master of cue ball control and position play for sure. He finished 2nd to Rodney Morris in the Houston Open in 2004.

To all of the people who think Jr is a banger, think again. He can play pool. He plays extremely well on 9 footers. All of you guys act like you can beat SVB in a race to 7 alternating breaks.
