sfleinen from AZ playing Jersey Joey at the SBE

Okay buddy...what did you do with the sun...hogging it all for yourself, it would seem! :D No sun in MI today...no sun in Chicago today (where I am today)...but YOU have sun in eastern PA. Hmmmm...there must be a conspiracy! LOL Enjoy the day, my friend!

...it's a beautiful day here in PA. The sun is shining and that is a good thing.
....

Now there's a L&L post I can get 100% behind! Trust me, Sean can play! Why I've even been known to occasionally run three balls...even though there is a many years old video floating around of me playing one game of 8ball...not so well (I wasn't sick, but had encountered the cocktail server a number of times during the evening!). It too, was posted as an attempt to discredit me...just as I suspect this one of Sean was. Sean...we've got your back!

I do not think you have to prove anything to anyone.

Funny, all the posters who wanted to be critical have less than a few posts ?? Yes, we know many APA 4's that step up to play top level talent and paying their own way to do so ;)

I play in a baseball league, and I'd much prefer to play sick playing baseball than pool any day of the week... I believe baseball is a much more difficult sport to play, but pool is more mental, and if your head is "cloudy" you got no chance in pool......

Good, bad or ugly, folks that step up to the plate to play top level contenders should get kudos for willing to step out of their comfort zone...but from what I hear, sean does this regularly, and with some wins in his back pocket as well....

George Carlin once said "those that dance are consdiered insane by those who can't even hear the friggin music"....

PS: I'm guessing trolls have a tin ear :)

Thanks guys!

Here's the thing; there are a handful of folks here who seem to have it in their mind that I'm an AZB antagonist of some sorts. I'm particularly enamored with the comments being posted to the video itself, saying that I'm the "Cliff Clavin of AZB," and that I "knock" other people's playing abilities.

I'd like to ask that/those persons face to face: show me *one time* -- just one time -- where I posted something critical of someone else's play? If anything, I try to be as helpful and supportive as I can here. I offer my help and assistance where I can (including, if the readership will remember, when the AZB forums themselves were experiencing severe performance problems). I try to lend my sense of humor to instances and situations, in the spirit of helping break-up the "mob pile-on" atmosphere that sometimes exists here. Or, if that doesn't work, I'll sometimes get more serious and pointed when I see there's a member here abusing others, or of misrepresenting facts, or just in general not "contributing" in a positive way. I guess some people -- who are here purely for entertainment purposes -- take exception to this, and do their best to bowl over those "obstacles" to their entertainment.

And additionally, certain folks who have no idea what sinusitis is (read: TheThaiger, who cluelessly thinks an "aspirin" would fix), it's like someone driving an icepick right between your eyes. It's not like any other headache you've ever had. Think of an icepick being driven between your eyes, pulling your eyeballs together (even going cross-eyed), and you'll get an idea of what it's like to have to play a vision-oriented game like pool. Paul correctly describes one of many symptoms -- tunnel vision (besides the excruciating pan).

Those that meet me in real life know that I'm a down-to-earth guy, quick with a laugh, I try to be insightful when the discussion is about a serious topic, and in general someone you don't mind being around. And yes, I offer my game in many disciplines as well -- whether that's straight pool, banks, one pocket, or even the occasional rotation game, which admittedly, I don't play as much of (personal preference).

My home room is Fast Eddies in New Milford, CT. I'm always there on Thursdays. I also play occasionally at Jack and Jills in Brewster, NY. If there are any questions or doubts about my abilities, come on down and let's play. I'm not a pro, but I'm known to catch a big gear. ;)

Wow, what a crock of shit. I have never met Shawn, never spoke with him on the phone. However, my judgment of his character based purely upon his posting here would make him one of the top 5 people at AZ I'd like to meet, play some pool and have a beer with. I don't really give a rats ass whether he is an APA 5 or a shortstop. I didn't watch the video but I'd be willing to bet that Shawn can beat 95% of the members at AZ in 14.1. Unfortunately, no way to test that but if there were, I'd gladly put my money where my mouth is.

I am happy to say that I am good friends with Sean and that he can hold his own when it comes to pool. We all play matches & have those days that we would like to forget about it. We all do...... and there are more than one.
No one should post a video unless they get permission to do so by both players. Out of respect it is the right thing to do.

I think it's nice of Sean to come clean with his real speed. Could've got some games as an APA 4-5 and you could make some real dough!!! LOL.

It's nice to put a face to the name at least.

best,

Justin

Mark...Trust me on this...Sean would LOVE to come play on your new Diamond! I'd post the pic you sent me, but I don't know how! Luckily for me, I feel a chance to play on it myself coming up pretty soon! Glad you're back in one piece...with no sunburn???

Now THAT'S funny!

I agree, that is a funny comment.

And if we could verify who the person actually is who posted it on youtube, I have an offer for them.

Sean will be at SBE in April and so will I.

Let's get together and make a game. I'll stake Sean.

That's right, I'm woofing at you, annonymous poster. And I'm serious.

Geez, you don't suppose that was Shane posting, do you?

best,

I was sticking up for you.

Tim,

IMHO You're wrong. Sean is always right & never makes a mistake or mis-judges. He's omniscient. Your Aspirin comment had to be directed at treating the sinusitis & not merely as a pain reliever. Your comment about his elevated snooker prowess also could not have been an attempt to take up for his playing ability.

Sarcasm aside, I will attest to the severity of discomfort & pain that sinusitis can bring as I have had both sinusitis & migrains. I could not ever imagine attempting to play pool with a bad migrain unless I absolutly had to do so for some Un-Godly reason. Sinusitis is not composed merely of cold like symtoms of a runny nose. It can be an infection of the sinuses & result in inflamation along with pressure type headache, along with pain behind the eyes & even in the teeth.

Anyone, even a pro, has an off day for what ever reason. To judge someone's game by one set on one day would not be wise.

That being said, Sean should have used the video to his advantage & did some matching up instead of giving the reasons for his poor play.

Just kidding because I understand defending oneself and those on 'one's team'. I was a defensive natured football player. I defended our goal & those defending it with me.

If this post was an attempt by the OP to put down Sean's playing ability it was in large part a failure. However it was interseting in other regards.

Again, some of the above are just my humble opinions.

Regards &

Anyway, why was the OP banned? I see nothing wrong with linking ANY youtube match and asking for information on a player playing in it. Besides, Sean has linked it himself - presumably when he still had a sense of humour.

Considering that the OP appeared to be trying to knock Sean's game..

What's he willing to give up to such a player? Surely, the 5 and the breaks couldn't hurt.

If anything, I'd think Sean could use that video to his advantage. "Haven't you seen me play on Youtube? I'll take the 6-out."

Some of the best racks I've played have come right after games where I missed shots so easy that my opponents thought I was laying down at first. :embarrassed2: Last October at the coast for our regional, I think my worst matches may have been the 2 last ones in the finals, the only ones where I was on the streaming table. I'm so bad that whatever Sean gets spotted, I'll take that and then some!

I would think, Thaiger, that the post was from a banned member who
had a grudge against Sean....and he would have to be more clever to fool
the AZ staff.
This guy was hardly a newby.

Here we go again. And by the time I saw this, the OP was already banned, so it must be a duplicate alias of someone from my "fan club."

For the last time:
That day I was playing, I was suffering a SEVERE bout of sinusitis and accompanying headache. I WAS IN NO SHAPE TO PLAY THAT DAY AT ALL, even the tournament director, Frank DelPizo, noticed it. I should've forfeited out. But Frank DelPizo convinced me to play, because Alvin Nelson of InsidePool selected this match to stream because he wanted to see Joey Testa play. And if you listen to the commentary, you'll notice the commentators mention it as well -- they saw me in pain in my seat. Joey Testa is a known pro player (and a great guy), so let's skip the "beating about the bush." And anybody who knows me / has played me knows that I play MUCH BETTER THAN THAT.

But of course, my "fan club" can't help with the adoration.

Tim, was the OP's alias one of yours, so you'd have a backdoor to ping me once again?

-Sean

I don't know anything about you or how you play, but I think you're a decent poster and you don't owe anyone an explanation.

One day. *

Sean,
As others have mentioned, you don't owe anyone an explanation. There will always be haters out there trying to get under a person's skin. Their lives must really be miserable that they have to wander around on this forum seeking ways to aggravate individual posters.

The little hens that peck away on the heads of others ultimately get what they deserve. Some of the hens are anonymous and others don't mind others knowing what prigs they actually are. ;-)

You've provided far more top shelf information about high level play than most of the people in this forum. I don't have to see you play in a video to know that you have a VERY GOOD all-around game in different disciplines.

Most of us know that you are an excellent poster, excellent player, a nice guy and a forum member in great standing in spite of your bias against sales pitches. Don't sweat the little hen peckers. :D

*FTR, I'd still break bread with you even if you couldn't run a rack. :)

Now that is telling it like it is, JoeyA. Sean is a super guy in my book!
Many Regards,

you got a problem with hen peckers?

oh, wait, I get it, hens and peckers ... :D

and for the record, although all of us here aspire to have the talent of say Johnny or Shane, that is not the true measure of a man (thank goodness).

I agree, Joey, if a person loves pool and is a good person, I don't care whether or not they can pot a single ball. I'll still sit down and chat with them and drink some beers late into the night.

but they're buying. :p
