Start reading here. Very long but well worth the time.

Have fun

John

I would've answered, but that would make me a nut hugger. Joey's post brought them all out of the woodwork. Let's see...I got some around here somewhere...here it is.

The first 3 hours is up to the individual, if you're not willing to put 3 hours into JUST using TOI, then I'm not going to be able to help. One thing the TOI system of play DOESN'T do is give you the passion to try it.

HOWEVER, once you put in the 3 hours I will assure you the passion for the Game will return and you will be like a child again, just wanted to hit balls and play because it's once again FUN. This Game is "The World's Greatest Game" and I'm grateful to be a student. 'THE GAME IS THE TEACHER' CJ Wiley
Okay...... you've got my interest and I'm going to give this a try when I have 3 hours.. ;-) At worst it will just give me a focus point for 3 hours (as opposed to random frustrated bangerdom) which is always a better way to practice. It's going to be work though, but it may be the required vaccine for a born spinner. :-) Thanks for the thread, and keep on posting. Have a great day.

P.S. I forgot to say..... everyone be careful where you play.... I think there is some poop in this sandbox.... I just saw it a minute ago.................

Only the snipers. Am I wrong?

Well, a while back, I asked CJ a legitimate question, which he then answered. Shortly after that, English felt the need to twist the few words I said and go off on a long rant. After that, it seems that a bunch of CJ "followers" started going off on trolls and whatever. Seems like the supporters are the ones that are derailing this thread.

Never said you were a troll, so why defend them? They're just stirring the pot. It keeps the thread going and gives us some entertainment, too. :grin-square:

Since you stated it, just who are in this "clique" that are trying to chase pro posters away? And, who is trying to "run this
forum"?

Neil,

It's the same ones all of the time, always trying to make themselves look more important than they really are.

It's the same ones who constantly try to find a way to shut down threads that they don't like.

It's the same forum bullies all of the time.

It's the ones who try to act like they own the forum.

It's the same ones who try to stifle interesting dialogue, especially if it is something that is different than their clique's belief system.

It's the same ones who follow posters around the forum sniping at others that don't fit in their mold of mean-spiritedness.

It's the same ones who chase other good posters from this forum.

It's the same group of individuals over and over.

It's plain as the nose on your face. Just look at the protestors in this thread.

And no, you're not one of them, at least not in my opinion. You get in your scrapes just like we all do but you don't chase anyone away from the forums that I can see.

The others? Well, if the shoe fits, squeal like a pig.

Friends are hard to come by. Losing one is even harder.

Sorry for your lose Rick.

John

Thanks John.

It has not been an easy day, but I was coaxed into playing a few games & won everyone of them thinking about him.

Thanks again,
Rick

TOI Technique of play simplifies the learning process - plane and simple.

Thanks for posting on here CJ. I enjoy reading your posts and at least trying what you are trying to say. At the risk of creating world war 3 with the naysayers can I ask if I am currently using CTE and lining up the shot with a touch of inside would that also work? I really like the CTE alignment and don't think I want to switch that but would be interested in hearing your opinions on how maybe or maybe not these two "systems" can we used in conjunction.... thanks again

I'm not sure how TOI and CTE work together, I aim all my shots like they're straight in {Center to Center} or on 30*+ cuts {Center to Edge}. I show how I line this up in my 'Ultimate Aiming System' on my DVD, however, at that time (1996) I didn't feel it was time to show how I did it with TOI.

I don't pivot using TOI, unless I need to put "helping English" on the ball and then I pivot towards the outside, however I ALWAYS come down with the "Touch" Of Inside first.

I either aim Center to Center or Center to Edge on ALL MY SHOTS. This is the only way I could possible play for 14 hours against Efren and miss 6 balls. I've stated my record at my pool room (with triple shimmed tables) was 22 hours, missing 4 balls.

I consider someone a great player when they (or I) miss one ball an hour and I consider someone a Champion when they average missing one ball (that has no safety element attached) every two hours.

This is when they are "in stroke" and I wouldn't count the first 30 minutes with anyone, because even the greatest players of all time need to get acclimated to the environment/table/humidity, etc.

I'm telling you how I rate players so you have some idea of the level that anyone can achieve if they can, first, hit the cue ball straight. If someone is at the point with their fundamentals (I show this in my Ultimate Pool Secrets), where they can hit the cue ball accurately, then they are ready to make all the rest of the shots. When someone can make a straight in 4' away consistently with a accelerating stroke I can show them how to create every angle on the table aiming either CTC or CTE (my center to edge;))

The TOI Technique enables a person to shoot all shots like they're alike and this, in my opinion, is how to get the most consistency. There are top pros that can shoot hundreds of different variations, and they also have to practice 6-8 hours a day to maintain.

Who has the time or energy to do that? I assure you I never have. I usually practiced an hour or two at the most when I was playing major tournaments. If I was gambling I would play longer, sometimes much longer. My point is this game is simple to play, and complicated to learn.

My TOI Technique of play simplifies the learning process - plane and simple. This is based on my experience and anyone that puts a few quality hours into TOI will agree. 'The Game is the Teacher'

Very long response deleted.

Instead...You Sir, & I use the declarative loosely, are the height & epitome of hipocrisy. Anyone that is unbiased can plainly see who the de-railers of this & other threads are.

I believe this is CJ's thread. Why would any proponent of his, or 'followers' as you so disdainfully refer to them, want to de-rail his thread?

I did not 'twist' your words. I made no definitive statement regarding your 'question' to CJ. I merely expressed my opinion of the possible nature of your words in no defintive manner.

Respond to this post & declare one way or the other, was your affirmative 'question' to CJ in post #11 a sincere question or a sacastic 'question'? Given the situation of the shot being clearly shot with an outside hit as opposed to TOI, I think the answer is rather obvious. Either that or you are a fool with regard to pool knowledge. I do not see how you can have it both ways.

Respond & prove that I intentionally twisted your words or cease & disist from making false statements in reference to me. I also again take exception to your incorrect belief that you have an omniscient mind & somehow know what I 'need' to do.

This post is in response to your false statement that I felt a need to twist your words. If you had not said that then this post would not exsist.

Thanks Mr. Lock.

You're right & I won't be for long. I'll remember him the way he would want. I'll remember him for the good times & for the fact that he would never give up. He would not quit. He was a good guy.

Thanks Again,

CJ -- You use TOI and your 3-part pocket system in conjunction with your aiming method. We have discussed your aiming method before, and I think what you say in the quoted post above could be misleading to people who missed the previous discussion.

Your aiming method is to aim one of several points on the CB at either the center or the edge of the OB, essentially creating an "eighths" fractional-ball aiming method. But I don't think that's how most people would interpret your comment quoted above ("I either aim Center to Center or Center to Edge on ALL MY SHOTS.").

Those who are interested can find a discussion of CJ's aiming method in posts #29 through #53 of this thread: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=289527
