TOI in ACTION Earl Stickland vs CJ Wiley

it holds it's line better and isn't at the mercy of the table or "the skid".

After working with TOI, I hit soft shots with it, too. I use an accelerating stroke and still hit them without too much speed. I've found a push instead of a pull works best.

Best,
Mike

That's right, Mike, usually you're applying spin to "stun" the ball slightly or really change the angle off the rail. Hitting the TOI with a low "stun" is much better than "slow rolling" the ball, it holds it's line better and isn't at the mercy of the table or "the skid".

As you know there's a lot of positive things about using this TOI shot and what I personally like is the "Touch" it gives me. I don't get that same feeling from using outside or center, do you?

CJ:
If you just cue it a HAIR outside of center it will deflect a half diamond on a 4'-5' shot.
Me:
This isn't true - not even close. A very high deflection shaft (with a 6-inch pivot point) will deflect the cue ball this much only if you hit at least 1/2 inch offcenter (at the miscue limit) - and then only without swerve.
CJ:
You do "Real Eyes"
What's with all the cutesy made-up language? We're supposedly adults here.

CJ:
...it deflects the OBJECT BALL a half diamond, not the cue ball.
Maybe you shouldn't have used "it" to describe both balls (in the same sentence) and then used "deflect" to describe what the object ball does (cue balls deflect; object balls cut).

I would recommend you go back and read the post, this time without prejudice.
I would recommend you rewrite it.

Anyway, the amount the object ball cuts will vary dramatically depending on how far apart the CB and OB are.

Be nice guys! This thread is describing something, and I think questions are ok, but if you have a total different view, it is better to present that in another thread. or start another thread to discuss what is wrong with this thread. I think it is easier to follow the thread if we stick with op's direction.

Just my 2 cents.....

Today I win my first gambling match using TOI (only after 6 hours I discovered the TOI concept), before that, 3 times in a row I lost the matches to the same opponent. I was relaxed and self confident, I knew I can do almost every shot, actually I was sure I win, because now, I know the secret.

Congrats! It just shows how important it is to use your brain and evaluate the different methods when training and playing:-)

I would recommend you learn how to play pool on a pool table instead of a computer. You haven't tried one thing I've suggested, yet sweat my posts waiting to pounce on anything that even appears to be out of place. I can almost hear the heavy breathing from your basement. :groucho:

You really have the audacity to try and chastise me because I used "it" twice in one sentence pertaining to different subjects? Talk about cutting hairs and looking like a child. "We're adults here?" Is this really adult behavior or are you, pj, acting like a little boy that got put in his "potty chair" backwards?

I"m ok with answering all your pocket billiard related questions, and responding to your comments, however, if you're going to talk to men you need to act like one. Stalking my threads looking for an "it" to be out of place so you can jump up and down and point? That put's the "creep" into "creepy behavior". :nono:

Is this your claim to fame now? You've posted over 12k posts and this is how you've evolved? Very impressive, very impressive indeed.

the only concern is not having enough time to outrun negative "rolls".

I'm really glad to hear that my friend. Hearing these comments makes it all worth while.

I really like to play like this because you can relax and just play pool. All that wasted thinking gets agrevating over a long match and it's a feeling of freedom to use the TOI and let the table tell you how you can use it.

We all that use TOI feel the same way when we gamble or play long matches, the only concern is not having enough time to outrun negative "rolls".

Keep up the good play AlexandruM, it's always nice to hear about your progress. 'The Game is the Teacher' ;)

I stand corrected, it's been changed

You simply misread/misquoted Ray Martin. He was talking about the contact point on the object ball not changing.

I stand corrected, it's been changed. I couldn't understand what he was referring to.

Thanks, that certainly needed to be clarified, I would even thank .....well, I appreciate that. ;)

Mr. CJ,
Another positive player from your your teaching in your threads. I love your threads. I like what you say when you say what you say in your post. Thanks, Mr. CJ. Keep on with the keep on!
Many Regards,
Lock N Load.

When you are aligned in this manner, on a straight in shot you would simply hit the Center {cue ball} and the shot will go in the Center of the pocket. I like that you described the Cue Ball/Object Ball as "flat discs" because that's the way I described them many, many posts ago.

I don't look at any of the balls as being round, they are all flat and "2D". When a player starts to "real eyes" this {perception} they are on their way to faster improvement.

In the TOI Technique, as you move INSIDE (right if cutting a ball to the right) you will create an angle. The more you move to the Inside, the more angle you will create.

This, in a "nutshell" is the foundation of the "Touch Of Inside" Technique and why it's NOT just an aiming system, it's Complete System for creating angles, establishing ideal "shot speed" and of course the "tip target" is ideal because it's ALWAYS TOI. 'The Game is the Teacher'

Thanks.

Toi

CJ, I would like to purchase your Inside Secrets DVD.. is the TOI portion included in that? If not, when will the TOI be available for puchase?

Thanks!

Benjamin Franklin once said "well done is better than well said". CJ has been to the mountain top and is willing to share some of his insights with those of us still struggling with the climb, so play nice.

Regarding TOI, I'm not sure how it works, but I have used it for about 3-4 hours over the past few days (as time allows) and it has certainly helped me with pocketing. With TOI I'm able to consistently pocket the shots that will often give me problems. Again, I don't know how, but considering that I have basically taken the past 8 months off from pool, and suddenly after starting to play again I'm now pocketing my "problem shots" dead-center almost every time with TOI tells me there is something to it, at least for me. Thanks CJ! :happydance:

I explained why your description was misleading.

[EDIT: Deleted unnecessary antagonism.]

My bad - I'll just stick to helping you keep your scientific facts straight.

making these videos where there's no wasted time.

Yes, and the main thing is I look at the balls, not as round, as flat and 2 dimensional. That way I can "connect the dots" with the TOI and/or using sectional aiming. I do a "check and balance" on the long, difficult shots that require connecting above the shot with my eyes and down on the shot with my eyes/tip/cue ball.

I don't want to get into the specifics of this, again, I show it as well as possible on this new TOI video. We are about 95% done with it now. It took over 10 hours of filming and the post production editing is taking another 60+ hours to condense it into a 70 minute video. This is the challenging part of making these videos where there's no wasted time. Every minute will be informative and entertaining. I'm really looking forward to releasing this one, it's going to make an interesting impact.

This technique is unique and I'm sure, even after hearing my explain it in various ways you will still be in for a surprise. There will be a lot of people rekindle their liking for pool when they learn how the TOI is applied. It's much more than an aiming system with an effective margin of error element. I'll just leave it at that for now.

I do not read this thread to learn english - I admit my english is horrible - and at the moment I am fine with that.

Logic is another topic, and I think the things can be understood if you want to....

I want to learn more about the toi....... and that doesn't mean that I disagree with some of the other posters.... but I am afraid the discussion is going in wrong direction....

If CJ can make money on this, I am very happy, and I want more money in this sport. Quite much of this can be transfered into snooker as well.

I think we have to be very glad that pool has people like CJ - modern and business oriented.

And as my amen, of course I listen to a person who as captain could give us that much challenge on our home soil during Mosconi Cup:-) US will never get that close again is my guess.... no bad feelings, it is just sports.....

The information is stellar,it's just a matter of polishing, proofing, and presenting

It's 95% done and we are finishing the post production process. It will be up and ready for PPV Downloading in a few days. We are hurrying, but don't want to rush it and "cheapen" the outcome.

This is really important to me and my staff to get right the first time. The information is stellar,it's just a matter of polishing, proofing, and presenting the final product. 'The Game is the Teacher'

From my experience there's always a way to win

You may be right, it would have been a huge upset to win at York Hall. I weighed up the reality of the situation in the first few days and could see we were "up against the nuts".

From my experience there's always a way to win, however, when we're that big of an underdog we had to take some chances to win. We took those chances and they paid off to put us in position to win. I have no regrets, it could have been worse, and I don't think we could have won by any other score but 11/10.

Parica told me he looks at balls like discs too b/c he started on " Filipino pool ".
Where they use ebony discs as balls.
Someone here thought it was dumb though.

I'm looking forward to that dvd.
