Pool school

you are better off

I had a one on one 8 hour session with Randy almost exactly a year ago. I was literally a beginner at that time (still am). The video of your stroke is truly revealing and educational. I have taken lessons since then from people (professional player(s))who tried to change what Randy had taught. I choose to subscribe to the Randy G school of thought.
I'd love the opportunity to get to go again.
I had a 30 year old bad habit to brake. Didn't know i had till ready found it.

Mr. banks. Who cares . If your not going to comment on the original post than don't derail it by sucking off CJ. Please don't post to my thread anymore. This thread was about a life changing experience for me not weather books and videos were any good. Stay away

About RandyG - I concur

Scott Lee and RandyG form a teaching tag team at some pool schools:grin:

About the quote above:
Wouldn't it be great if the original poster of a thread could ban comments from particular individuals - each tread could have its own Ignore List
Now let's get AZB management on board.
You may have done for AZB what Randy did for you

Randy and I are friends and original partners in my pool room. You guys are touchy

I thought the thread was a review/commentary about the experience the J-Flo had at The Pool School run by Randy G?? Personally I think that it's poor form to come into it and advertise your school... This is just my opinion and not a personal attack. FWIW..

Randy and I are friends (we both live in the same town) and original partners in Champs Billiards. You guys sure are touchy these days. I've even ask Randy to work together and me handle a different area of instruction than he currently handles.

If you don't believe these things are true please feel free to ask him yourself. I'm no competition to Randy, never have been and never will be as far as I can see.

He had mentioned that Johnny had contacted him to teach him how to teach. We are just trying to keep to the topic of the op. The whole forum is turning into one big derail. People got frustrated by countless plugs and pitches.

http://www.poolschool.info/

He is found here on AZB, as well.
I think that the pool school in Dallas has closed down. I know several of the instructors that taught there and one of them told me that the school is no more. I think Leslie Rogers moved back to Japan. Bill Suden moved back to New York and Carl Oswald is busy as a one legged man in an ass kicking contest doing the nursing thing.

Dan, I agree 100%.... I mean, I defended him in other threads that he starts and offers out his "goods",,, but to go into another thread, for another pool school, and start soliciting students does NOT seem cool to me...

I mean, c'mon CJ, we LOVE having you here, but lets not take advantage of the situation...geez :)

Because when I am at the table and I play a shot a certain way, if I am questioned about it, I can reply that this is how CJ plays it, this is how Sigel plays it, this is how Buddy plays it. And how will you respond to that?

I would respond "You're not CJ, Buddy or Sigel" you do not have their talent.

I've been to the school and also give it high praise. I too like you could not make more than 3 balls for a month or so after the school, as I changed a lot of my mechanics based on many things, one being video analysis. I plan to go back again, but just haven't had the time as work has been pretty demanding. Hopefully this year work will be less demanding so I can get up there again.

Yeah, this kind of thing would make him NOT get my business. I realize he is trying to make a living, but start another thread, not advertise in this one.

Hi CJ, Honestly I am not touchy at all. The thread was/is about a persons experience with instruction done by Randy it had nothing to do with you until you came into it to advertise your instructional material. To me that is trying to steal someone else's business. You did not make one mention about anything except your pool school which had nothing to do with the discussion at all. I am glad to hear that you are friends with Randy. From my point of view Randy has spent years and years building up his business and reputation traveling all over the country. This is just one mans opinion but you would have been wise to show a little more respect than you did. JMO, have a fantastic day!;)

blah, blah, blah ...

I'm beginning to think you are a spammer, here on AZ and on facebook ... seriously. To me, you are coming off as used car salesman with aggressive sales tactic rather than a respectable former world champion with something to share.

To get my post back on the topic, I was wondering if the OP got Randy G or one of his instructor? Does it matter? I'd guess most people would want Randy G to personally instruct?

the building is gone

the building is gone and torn down now but Randy G is still teaching. He is teaching out of a bowling ally with nice tables and a decent kitchen. the personal attention is 2nd to none. there were only 2 of us in the class so we had a ton of direct contact with Randy. the material is the same as the old school and the stroke analysis is still 2nd to none. like I said randy keeps the class size down cause he is by himself but I can gauarntee that its the real thing.

Sounds like a desperate man

Im not sure what is going on in CJ's life but he sounds like a desperate man.

Those are great points and Johnny Archer and I are going into discussions about teaming up for a New Kind of Pool School showcasing genuine, pro techniques. We will schedule them in Atlanta, Dallas/Ft. Worth/ and Las Vegas this summer. Stay tuned for more information at www.cjwileybilliards.com

I live in the Dallas area and I have had private lessons from some of the best local instructors including Bert Kinister and Randy G.

I attended two of Randy's Pool Schools and he and his material are second to none. Best money I have spent on my pool game. Bert was also great. That being said, I would jump at a chance for some instruction from CJ and that is no knock on Randy and Bert. Why would it be?

So CJ, please let me know if you set up a class in Dallas. I am very interested in attending. I also practice meditation and am curious about how it affects your game. Probably not a Pool School topic but I think it should be.

OK .. I gather that Poolschool is dissolved and Randy G is pretty much solo now.

When I was living in northern CA, I was going to find the time to go to his 3 days school ... now I'm living in the other side of the world :( One of these days, I will take some vacation.

Randy and Scott are in constant contact but like I said its the same material but randy is flying solo along with the dozens of instructors that he has trained and has access to. IN our class there was a guy named Scott but not Scott lee, who helped him on a couple of days. Scott is also a instructor on his own but still looks to Randy for guidance.

That's a bummer if it is true. I liked going to the school. It was a nice quiet environment for learning.

Hidy Ho... I bought a Blackcreek cue from you many years ago (before iTrader). Anyhow, I get to Singapore every now and then and will send you a PM before my next trip. Perhaps we can meet and play a few games.

Sure .. I can be found at Singapore during most weekdays. A lot of my weekends are in Bangkok (more fun!). Some travel to India and back to northern Cali planned for 1st six months of this year. Ping me when in my neighborhood.

Like I said, I'm friends with Randy and as far as I know we've never even had a disagreement. I played league with him and he even beat me the last time we played. I shook his hand and told him "nice game, you played well", there was not even the slightest animosity.

I've lost more pool games that most people could lose in their life times. I"ve won several too, but it's based on playing hundreds of thousands of games in my life time.

People refer to me posting on here as advertising, yet this is a forum and many people advertise themselves, their products, their expertise and their opinions. Why am I so different. I do advertise, but it's on TV, Radio and in print ads.

Most people know I'm in the bar and restaurant business for the past 20 years, not the pool business. I do this as a hobby and use it to try to help other people with their games. There is very little money in this and overall since I've been posting on azbilliards I've spent much more than I can ever hope to make.

I've given away over 20 DVDs to members here,as well as signed posters and other memorabilia in "Goodwill" and in hopes that it makes someone happy. I do get more aggressive with the pictures and posts when people start attacking me personally, and who doesn't have a self defense mechanism? I've been attacked quite a bit and continue to be by lou, neal, pjslasher, scott, duckie, and others with "hidden identities".

This is not unusual in the least to me, I"ve been scrutinized ever since I became a champion player, but so does pros from other sports and certainly other pros in pool. If you don't have "haters" in life you're probably not making an impact is what Hank Haney used to tell me.

He wrote a book on Tiger Woods and his experience coaching him and got attacked from numerous people, far more than could ever attack me on this forum. Does he complain or fret about it? Not at all, he laughs about it because he knows it's part of being in the public light. These attacks say more about the person saying them than the people they are said about. On here "some" hide behind secret identities and they have the least impact because everyone knows what they are secretly doing on here.

I will continue to try to help people on here with their games and my azbilliards videos are due out soon. The whole reason I ever started on here is to help this web site with supplying video content to their new video department. I have 12 web sites I work with, this is one I do for fun and entertainment.

So far I really like most of the people I've encountered on here and have made many new friends and of course I'm back in touch with hundreds of old friends from years ago. I like Randy G. and if he posts something about his school on one of my threads I would not even give it a second glance. I'm of the opinion that people on here can write whatever they want as long as it's civil and not some kind of personal attack on anyone.

There is always a level of professionalism that can be maintained in the Game or in this Forum. "The Game and This Forum are the Teacher'
