I watched some of the straight pool matches from the dcc. Does the game alway start with safety after safety until one guy can get something going? And I'm guessing legal break two balls have to hit a rail...and safety's are the same as in 9 balls, strike the ball then ob or cb must touch a rail?

Opening Break: Two balls and cue ball must hit rail. After that same as nine ball.

Some games get into safety battles right from the break, other times the incoming player makes a ball and keeps on running. Numerous players over the years have ran the entire game out after the opening safety.

Thanks bill I thought so just wanted to double check. I'm finally going to play my first straight pool match on the 23rd and want to make sure I have every thing nailed down by then so I don't look like a doofus

Don't worry, Tommy. I hear the guy you are playing is a little weak.
