i think SVB should have been playing Bustamante and Mike should have played Shaw.. I think it would have been a much better couple of matches to watch.....what do you think?...........mike

Probably.
Theres no more then 4 people on the planet that can even be competitive with SVB on 4.5" pockets, playin 10 ball. His break is just to much of a weapon.
3 of them would be fillipino.

In other words...

I agree, 2 different classes of players, A and A-, you figure out which is which....??

I think Shaw would drill Mike. Not quite as bad as SVB did, but Shaw lost a close one to Busta and IMO Busta would put Mike to sleep much like SVB did.

Right AGAIN!

It's nice to see I'm not the only one that sees REALITY!

Nah, there are 3 people I can think of at least that would be a threat to SVB playing 10-ball in a long set for the cash from Taiwan.

Wu
Yang
Chang (JL)

Those guys are machines with hugely consistent breaks and can put packages out just like SVB can.

lol you guys kill me, this forum is legit like the SVB fan club... there are like 10 guys in the world who can compete with SVB on this table playing 10 ball and be even money. I hate to say this because I love shanes break and respect how hard he worked to get it to where it is but if u switched to 9 ball there is like 40 guys in the world who are even money playing SVB. Listen the guy is great but people seem to forget the times he got his heart shot out like everytime he plays Busty, Dennis... or the ruthless beating Earl laid down on him playing on the 10 footer, the list goes on and on. The guy is amazing but people hold him to a ridiculous level.

Nine ball is a kids game compared to 10 ball..in my opinion pro players playing 9 ball in tournaments is like champion chess players playing checkers. It's a joke. When he played earl it was on that crazy 10 foot table. That early had gotten a lot of practice on before svb giving him an advantage. In interviews afterwards even Earl wasn't interested in a rematch on a 9 foot table.

One player practice 6-10 hours a day, another 2-3 times in a week.
I think the result of their match was clear a priori. SVB said he run a 14 package in practice, and what was the biggest Mike package?

Shaw would destroy Mike

Does anyone know what the take is for the players? I can't seem to find the $ payout to the winner.

tar matches

Let just say it shane is a different class of player. and they need to go back to the tighter pockets because it makes the game show a complete player. with bigger pockets makes the break the sole biggest weapon a player needs and that favors shane in my opinion. when you play on a tight table you need to be a master at all aspects kicking breaks pocketing cue ball control and knowledge of the game. That to me is how you know the great from the good. in this match up shane would have killed mike on any table. they need to match up more even players like shane busty orcullo yang chang etc and mike with shaw appleton etc

I remember a couple years ago in Vegas during the APA tournament. The Canadians were going broke betting against Shane. Everyone knew their player couldn't win but them

Also you go get them 10 other players and the Cash and they can get played. Shane has already said they have a game when they want one. Problem is they don't like their chances when the cash is on the light. My.02

Shane looks acts, plays and practices like a pro should. Mike appears to be another Great player living off the Fat. Shane keeps working and improving, Mike appears to be just another player making ends meet, tho I can't blame em. There's really no structure/tour or lifes dream that can be fulfilled by going from tournament to tournament and many pros realize this once they have risen to the top. Until there is structure, Very few players will treat our sport like SVB or a few others workin' this tough road of life.

That's very interesting. Most of us have seen those players once or twice, in the Worlds or on ESPN. Not enough to remember their names or know which is which.

I wonder how they stack up against the top Filipinos ? Personally, I rate Dennis Orcollo as the best short rack rotation player in the world, just above Shane. I rate Archer just below SVB. I can't decide where to put Ralf and Neils, especially Neils. There are about 6 Filipinos who on any given day could best the field. Keeps it interesting !

Dechaine ran 8 racks of 10 ball against Archer in a tournament, but I don't know if that's his high run.

Mike seems to go for a an extra rail or 2 to get position which gets him in trouble against the top players. He tried some things that got him out of line, same thing he did in the Mosconi cup.

I thought the scores would be in the 20s for both players win or lose, I was pretty wrong there. Dechaine does not seem to be able to handle the pressure of top players and situations.

He needs to win a US Open / World Open type tournament to show what he got.

If Mike Plays Jason,I'll take Mike all day long.I would consider Mike the favorite, not just on the pool aspect but on the theatric aspect as well.

I think Mike would get in his head and never move out.
