Great shot by Earl

I don't want to sound like a total douche but... I'm not seeing that shot as very impressive. The shot to make was easy and the rest was I believe a standard draw or spin to double the corner and out.

Earl's got way more impressive shots than that.

Freddie <~~~ might can make the shot

he made the cue ball travel about 18 feet. That shot is much harder than it looked- requires a tremendous stroke. If you can do that shot, you must be a great player.

Actually the shot looks harder than it is. Set it up when you go to the pool hall today. You'll be surprised that you can likely hit the shot with a decent stroke. Its a half ball hit or less, so the cue retains quite a bit of energy. The cloth was also in new condition on this table.

Exactly. It's not really that hard. Any low b player can do that shot.

Not for nothing but a standard lag for the break travels about 16 ft...

Freddie <~~~ only my mom thinks I'm a great player

however, Earl's was a spin shot. Perhaps it is as easy as you guys are saying, but I don't think most people could easily accomplish such a shot. I think he made it look easier than it was

Just bottom ball with a decent stroke....i think you are putting more faith anto this shot than it deserves. Go to the hall and give it a try

No left at all ? I would think there would be a little spin on it. Just wondering in case it comes up tonight LOL..........

I think a little bit of left (and certainly not right). The draw took its path out of the right corner pocket and "running" into the head rail so that doubling the left corner made for a fairly standard path. I think in the book of 9-ball patterns (choose your book be it Bert, Danny, Nick or any of the modern DVD'd), it's one of the standard patterns in the top five standard 9-ball patterns.

I think what makes this shot look more impressive is that the shot was a fairly shallow cut, so Earl did have to hit it with a lot of pace.

Freddie <~~~ and yes, I can miss this shot just like the next person

And in case anyone was wondering what the hell I was talking about choosing your book, I was wondering what I was saying myself:

Bert - Bert Kinnister and his STAR patterns I believe. These were VHS tapes, not books

Danny - I'm sure I'm thinking of Danny Basavitch and videos as well, but I think the first Danny I saw instruct this shot was Medina.

Nick - Varner of course. And I also think this was one of his standard 9-ball patterns in one of his VHS videos back in the 90's.

So, none are books. LOL!!

Freddie <~~~ by the tape
