Let's see.

CJ Wiley:

- Top notch player, both in money matches and in tournament play.
- Winner of many major events
- Built and owned a large and successful pool room and nightclub in a major market (Dallas)
- Created and ran the Professional CueSports Association
- Promoted and ran many successful PCA events, some televised.
- Was responsible for the first (and only) event with a one million dollar prize. (won by Earl Strickland and which was not paid at the full million through no fault of CJ's)
-creator of three very good instructional tapes in the 90s which are still relevant today.

No this is a guy we don't want around on a pool forum. We need to relegate him to a subforum until he goes away. Kind of like the way we did on the Ask the Pros subforum which gets no traffic at all.

Over here in China we still have open air markets where one can buy fresh fruit, veggies, meat, toys, ducks, frogs, eels, chickens, etc... It's really nice to go to the market and see all the stuff for sale and how each vendor is handling their business. The ones who have the best stuff and who can catch the customer's attention are the ones who get the most business.

I don't understand why some people here on AZB don't want to treat the main forum like that sort of marketplace of ideas. I know that I virtually walk past most threads on AZB without opening them. I do really. Don't even open them unless it's a topic I am interested in. I probably miss a lot of great conversation just like once in a while I miss out on the best strawberries at the market. But that's by choice.

The point is that when the stuff is not at the market then I have NO CHOICE to look at it or ignore. Imagine a store with very few items to choose from. Would you frequent that place?

When a TAR match is about to happen it generally sparks plenty of threads about the match, from who is going to win, how they compare to other players, whose head is bigger, who is a bigger jerk, what the line is and should be, and and and.......

And NO ONE complains about the frequency of threads when that happens. No one.

The way the world works is that when a subject is introduced, such as CJ's Touch of Inside then it's going to be discussed/debated/tried/denigrated/praised and WILL spark more threads. And the more negativity that is introduced the LONGER that threads go because then it becomes a he said/she said battle that insures 100s more posts that go way off topic. Why can't we all just settle down stop with the negativity?

If you don't like a method then don't comment on it unless you have actually tried it and can describe in detail why you don't like it. That leads to actually good conversation as to the actual benefits or lack thereof by people on both sides who have experience with the method. I mean really this is like people who have never tried bananas debating the flavor of bananas. And that leads to a whole other mess of arguments when one side knows what bananas taste like and the other side has never taken a bite.

So, in conclusion, if you are the sort of person who is offended by a multitude of threads on a subject contain yourself from participating negatively in them and I promise you that those threads will go away by themselves in short order. However if what you really want is to have your voice be the strongest in the forum and exclude professional players and their input in favor of your own then by all means continue to introduce negativity and conflict and put-downs to those pros you don't like. Eventually you might get your wish and they will leave the forum to you.

i'd peel to catch CJ in action, as long as he's not giving FRANK JAMES the 8

CJ would fair at least as good as SVB did. He looked like he just wanted it to end when he played Earl on the big table. That was his horse#%!?/:". It happens to the best of them.

Maybe tomorrow everyone can let this rest...you are all spending too much time together and it looks like you are starting to sync up your cycles.

600 International hours of ESPN, Many Accu Stats Streams, and PRIME/FOX SPORTS SHOWS

If what JCIN said earlier is true.....I don't blame them one bit for not having CJ on TAR. This would be very similar to men's pool and espn long ago.

I like the friendly "banter," and I even like lou, especially when he sends me flowers ...however, the Bogus Lies/Slander are lame and unprofessional.

I have played on over 600 International hours of ESPN, Many Accu Stats Streams, and several PRIME/FOX SPORTS TV SHOWS in my career.

Not once did I get paid, or ask to get paid, furthermore I don't play in ring game and I've been to MANY tournaments that had them.
I did play in a ring game format bar table tournament that I couldn't wait to lose {and get the heck out of} at Shooters.

That's it, I'm a "heads up" player, ring games are not my speed, shooting every 5 or 6 players is not something I enjoy, so I don't play....simple as that.

I think Justin should clarify this. I too was under the impression that he was "outing" CJ as the player who refused to play on stream without getting paid for it. I came away from it with the idea that it WAS CJ who refused to help TAR in the beginning.

If it's not true then Justin should make that clear because the implication was that CJ is the guilty one here.

the TOI Technique is brutally strong because you MUST hit every shot firmly

Earl and I were considered the best on 5/10 tables and it never came up for us to play each other. It's a gunfight, and he would have to play better than he did against Shane to win - it's a different world on the FIVE by TEN, the TOI Technique is brutally strong because you MUST hit every shot firmly - especially on worn cloth and of course that's what we would play on. ;) 'The Inner Game is the Teacher' www.cjwiley.com

My Only Derby City Classic Story

So where'd you finish? What was your won/loss record for Tunica? What about the DCC?

And about Earl watching: didn't bother me a bit while he watched me play (and almost beat) Kiamco at Tunica. (Didn't bother me either when Efren watched me shoot during our match at the US Open in front of a couple hundred fans or Larry Nevel when I beat him at a tournament in Chicago.)

Lou Figueroa

I don't remember how I finished in Tunica, just "going through the motions" - I got money back, not enough to amount to anything, of course neither did 5th place.

I went to DCC one time to gamble and played Shane 9 Ball. $500. a game, I had Shannon Dalton, Roger Griffis and a few others betting on me and I got 8 Games behind, hit a gear and got even, tried to raise the bet, he quit, game over. Knocked me for the next year, so I quit playing for another year. Figured out gambling at pool was a bad choice for a future... End of Story.....and then I rode into the sunset with the princess of pool to the kingdom of TOI, and lived happily ever after. 'The Inner Game is the Teacher www.cjwiley.com

John, It must be different in China...You burned up a LOT of words..saying what we all knew was your weakest agenda...You want to be on the side of the 'Pro"..whether he is right, or wrong...I'm sorry, but that comes under the heading, of being a "nut-dangler" extrordinaire !..:embarrassed2:

Have you seen ONE pool player (worth his salt) come on here and defend CJ.'s "infallible" TOI method ?... I commend him, for capturing WAY MORE, than his share of the forum..He is a very good at PR man...But he is simply just another "aiming system" promoter...With no more to offer, than all the other guy's, trying to SELL pool nirvana !...Fortunately for him, there are enough 'C' players on the forum, (and in the world)..to think he has found the "silver bullet"....However, strictly because he works so hard at it..I wish him every success !...But the "game is NOT the teacher"...The 'teacher', is whether you win or lose..!...I will want to hear more than his 'chosen' testimonials, and his "29" ball run, to convince me I am wrong...And John, I am way to old to be jealous...I am just not in favor of what I feel is basically his idea of a 'short cut'..to turning gullible APA 3 player, (like yourself ;), into a real solid 'pool player's..Sorry John, it ain't gonna happen...JMHO

PS..I stopped short of calling CJ, a "snake oil" salesman, because I think he sincerely believes 'TOI', is really the answer to being the best you can possibly be !...(Sorry, but I still believe its the old 'million ball' method')

Well, surely you must have some respect for his accomplishments. As a road man yourself you know what it meant to go somewhere and match up with champions for the cheese.

Unless CJ is flat out lying about beating Efren for the cheddar, spanking Johnny Archer on the big and small tracks and the other stories he has told that ought to be verification enough for you.

And CJ himself has said you must perform a version of the million balls method to get really tight with his TOI method. He said give it three SOLID weeks.

Well I think you know that any player worth his salt who REALLY gives any method three weeks of solid practice will know whether it has any benefit or not and whether it's worth continuing or not.

I know you are totally super old school and think that the only way to get better is to play til your hands bleed through trial and error. On this we will always disagree. I can't imagine that you went through your pool life and never learned anything from anyone else. If I were to take lessons from you and you showed me a bunch of one pocket tricks that took you years of road work to learn then I have just taken a major shortcut to becoming a good one pocket player. IN the course of weeks I have learned things that I might never discover on my own and what's left if to practice those shots until I can execute them at will.

Also, regarding the nut dangler comment. You're wrong there as well. I have had disagreements with John Schmidt here about how he talked about the amateurs and some of his comments. As well he and I have had debates over talent vs. training/nature-nurture.

And you and I have had our battles as well so I am not always on the side of the pro/former pro.

And if the "game is the teacher" thing bothers you and you think instead it should "the outcome is the teacher" then maybe you need to pay attention to the people reporting back that they are winning more after investing the time to learn CJ's method.

I guess I don't understand. On one had you say only the performance counts but then when people report that they are winning more and shooting at a much higher level, with video proof in some cases, you don't give that any credit.

When Pros who use various controversial methods (controversial HERE) win events then you don't give any credit. It's like you want to have it be both ways and both of them your way.

Respectfully,

APA 2.5

Give me a break... Dam

HAMB is the dumbest thing in the world. It's quality, not quantity that matters in this game.

I don't care if you hit five million balls. Unless a portion of them were under some sort of structured routine, you're never going to be better than average.

Structure, Routine, ? Puhleeeeeeze !...It is people like yourself, that keep "aiming system" promoter's alive...Keep grasping at straws !..
I admire SVB for his hard work, and dedication..But I also think he was BORN with a little Efren, Busty, and Orcullo in him.. He would never have made it without that ingredient, even if he practiced 'til his arms fell off, and his eyeballs bled ! (sorry, neither will you !)

Kinda like Babe Ruth, Ronnie Allen, and Keith McCready all of whom rose to the top of their game, on booze and hot dogs..Being as we are talking pool here, I know for a fact, that RA, (and dozen's of his other contemporarie's)..didnt spend over 5-6 hours practicing, in his/their ENTIRE life !...But then he was just an 'average' player, wasn't he ?...Where was HIS 'structure'..
