JoeyA The Great!

Lock, my friend, I had to. I ran the last one aground and had to scrap her.
It was a dark and stormy night. Gale force winds were as fierce as my first wife's temper. Suddenly, from out of nowhere came...

Hey Tramp,
I hope no one got hurt when you ran your old ship aground! The storm and wind must have really been bad that night....... Your new ship is OK, though.
May it ride and run as good as your old one did! Be careful, my friend.
Many Regards,
Lock N Load.

I need to brush up on my history.

Who plays pool at 9am voluntarily? You really wanted that win!

Really nice story and path to victory. It's ok Joey most of Mosconi's title came from one on one challenges. :-)

Is that really true about Mosconi? I had no idea, I need to brush up on my history.

Honestly I think there is enough action, drama, and hilarious nous around here to have a reality show. But that would never happen and would most likely cause more drama than ever.

But it would be funny.

Mr. Bojangles

sounds like it should have been a mini series :-) better story line than any recent pool movies or shows.

The story continues but the part about the former king takes a detour with the former king imposing a self-exile on himself, banishing himself to the pool commentary booth to tell boring stories about his brief and tenuous rule.

The new king prospers, vanquishing foe after foe, building riches and fame that Solomon would have had the green eye over.

But it's really the burden that is the main storyline for the new king. He will face many trials and tribulations as the new king and will soon find out that with the crown comes new and difficult responsibilities.

Some say the former king, now is acting like Mr. Bojangles from time to time. Meanwhile the Paparazzi are desperately trying to provide photos of the former king, drinking alcoholic beverages and jumping in the air while clicking his heels together. So far, the Paparazzi have failed to provide the needed epicurious proof.

No i dont. Didnt even know yall played. I remember when Joey walked in and I offered him a beer. I didnt know who you were til Robley pointed you out to me when we were sitting by table 9 and i asked you for the Orange Crush! Lol love how you smiled and laugh and shook your head lol

Lol hey you took the crown. I need the breaks and atleast a game or two ;)

Im a cheap set playing kind of person. Ive gambled but nothing more than $20 before. I dont have the self confidence enough to play for like $50-100- and so on.

Altho i do beleive i can play some 9-11 ahead sets for like $50-$100. Love long sets like that

Now Stone Cold will see what it is like to be the King. :winknudge:

Jamie, we can play a round Robin if you like. 9-ball, 10-ball, and 8-ball for the Crown. Or if I dont have the Crown by then, we can play it anyway. First well play 9-ball, and 8-ball; and if theres a tie, well break it with 10-ball.

I'm not sure quite how to start this, as I'm no poet of Pool such as Joey A, among others. But here goes.

Around 3-4 years ago, I met JoeyA at White Diamond Billiards and realized that many had great respect for this man and his vast knowledge of the game. I then studied his process, gaining knowledge and a different view of this game we call Pool. After about a year I thought my game had improved such as to challenge him to the Louisiana AZB Crown at the next White Diamond event. I then made it official with a callout, and making sure I had the correct criteria for the challenge. Joey so gracefully met my challenge with agreeing to whatever terms I saw fit. Being the 1-pocket player he is, and the 1-pocket player I am not(never played the game) he agreed to a single race to 7, playing 9-ball on a Valley.

So in the preceding months I trained myself, because I knew the battle yet stand before me. And when the time came I felt confident, and eager. But no matter the confidence, it was not enough to best the Great Joey A. For I had lost 7-5. However I held my head high, because I knew I made a valiant attempt to take down such a beast.

So months pass and I continue to improve. And one day we decide to make a trip to Joeys home room, Buffalo Billiards. In the days before I decided to challenge the Great JoeyA again, but this time I would be in his element. Although I improved, I felt weaker in the mind about my chances. He agreed to the same game, as we had developed a good friendship, and respect for each other. But again, I just didn't feel confident, and it showed. With Joey besting me again, at a score of 7-4.

So now we fast foreword to the present. My game stronger than ever, but in my head I know that The Great JoeyA is still the better player. None the less I issue my 3rd and final challenge, because I know if I can't win now, I will never win. He agrees to the same game as always, but this time I want to play where it all started...White Diamond Billiards. He agrees and I set my training in motion. Day in and day out, I try to better my mental state; I try to better my breaks; because I know this will be the last epic battle between the Tiger and the Pig(yes I'm fluffy).

So the day comes. It's Saturday, March 16th 2013, and we arrive at White Diamond Billiards around 9am. I start getting warmed up, waiting for Joey to arrive. Shortly after, I see Joey walk through the door. I continue to play around as he greats all of his brethren. Then I walk up to him, asking if he's ready. He says yes of course. Then I ask if he would like to warm up; and he says no. At first I thought to myself, "What have I gotten myself into." I knew because he hadn't needed to warm up that he must be playing extremely well. But I shook it off and got back to my state of "victory" in my mind.

The coin flips and off we go. About an hour later I wake up from my mental state and look at the score, and to my amazement it was 7-2.......but the beads lay on my side. I shake Joeys hand and tell him good match, as he does to me. I still am not sure what it took to best The Great Joey A, but I knew I had achieved it.

But I know in my head who the True King of Louisiana is, and he will get a shot at getting his Rightful Crown back upon his head. This time upon HIS terms.

I love pool stories and this one is awesom (thanks for sharing)!

Way to hang in there brother and grind out a very tough win against a very good opponent.

Joey A is a all around Dam good player and a great voice and knowledge for announcing pool matches, i think Joey has the best voice of all commentaters!

Wow Richie. That's an awesome compliment but I won't be resting on my laurels. Future commentary improvements are being implemented as I write. (I don't want to be known just for a pretty voice. )

Thanks again.

It's been three years that I have been in exile as the former AZB King of Louisiana.

A part of the exile has been self-induced but another more important part was the respect that I had for Stone Cold usurping my crown. He did it the old fashioned way. They say to be the man, you have to beat the man and that he did.

It has been close to a thousand days and I have prepared myself to return to the throne. I'm not even sure if Stone Cold still frequents the Main Forum or not but he will always be remembered as a man who exudes class in everything he does.

The time has come for me to dust off my sandals and return to re-claim the crown that was rightfully removed from my grasp.

I hereby challenge the AZB King of Louisiana for the Louisiana crown!

JoeyA
